I signed up for DING- however i have a feeling i am not going to have much luck because i am flying out of (hopefully) philly on a sat and returning from mco on sunday.

i get "dinged" and the flights are not that far ahead--- i am traveling sept 23/oct 1st.

my question-- i can get a flight on spirit air out of atlantic city nj for 2 of us round trip= $466.20 when all is said and done w/ taxes etc.......

do you think i will have any luck finding a cheaper price out of philly if i wait and keep checking prices?? when should i start to worry? eeek.

we usually drive- and i am afraid if i wait too long- i may get a higher price than the 466.20! :confused3

Thanks! ;)

Southwest hasnt released fares that far out yet. I would wait. Mid March is when I would expect them.

I came close to booking out of Rochester on Delta (about an hour away) for $137 for Late August but decided to wait for Southwest as I have paid $115 the last couple times with them out of Buffalo.

I would wait, as we just got Dings for 45 bucks one way to and from Philly to MCO . They just had some for a sunday return to philly this morning! Our total for 4 people including taxes was 388!!! 97.10 a person! Be patient, you have lots of time and that time of year isn't very busy! The Dings are worth the wait! Good Luck!

I'm waiting for Southwest and Airtran to release for the end of Oct out of Philly. Last time we paid $79 each way, hoping for the same or better.

Airtran has to the first few days in Sept, so I'm sure the rest won't be far behind. I'd wait.

I would wait, We fly southwest out of Philly all the time. Last Sept it was 233.80 for the two of us. This trip I am using a ding 184.20 for the two of us!!! :cool1:

SW and Air Tran are the ones to watch. I always set a goal of $200 or less per person, round trip. Last year it was exactly that (I only had 2 months to prepare so I took the cheapest fare available right away). Now we have booked our return flight on Air Tran ($87 total per person, on a Thursday) and are keeping our eyes peeled for something decent for our departing. We are leaving on a Saturday morning so I'm not expecting anything too amazing, but unless the prices all start shooting up I won't pay more than $87.
It is hard waiting for a 'better' sale to pop up....feels like gambling to me, i don't like it! :badpc:

To the OP:

I live right next to Atlantic City, and I love flying Spirit rather than having to schlepp to Philadelphia. But you can probably get a better fare on SWA than what you quoted from Spirit. When I flew last May, I waited and waited and pounced on a $194 fare (all taxes inc.) from ACY to MCO, but again, I'm sure SWA can do better.

If it's close in price, though, keep in mind that parking at PHL can cost, what, $15 a day, and at ACY it's $4.25 a day. AND you park very close walking distance from the terminal, no messing around with waiting for shuttles, etc. Plus, ACY has VERY short security lines compared with PHL.

Definatly wait a bit. I'd look at Air Tran when they have their rates. The rate you have now is too high for Phila. It will come down for sure. Ding's are a hit or miss. I'd never "plan" on getting one, but when they come up? Look out!! You should be able to get a mush lower fare by being patient. Especially for Sept.

We fly SW all the time and I don't even have DING and our last two rt flights pp were $136 and $116.90 out of PHL. I can't use DING because we're a MAC family and DING is not compatible to MAC's. I usually just book the ressie's soon after the schedule comes out for our dates (I make one ways since it's easier to make changes with ow's and also if a sale fare comes up you're more apt to be able to take advantage if your tickets are ow's and the other leg is booked solid) I usually get $79 each way and then just keep checking for sales. On our last trip in December the trip down on 12/10 went on sale in mid October for $49 and then about two weeks before the trip (end of Nov)
the return 12/17 went on sale for $49 also. So, now I've got $240 in credit from eight one way tickets just waiting to be used!!!! Isn't Southwest great???

Thanks everyone for your input.

The Spirit fares going out of AC NJ were only 85.00 pp- it was the fare for the way back that was 125.00 pp that made the tix pricier.

i shall wait for a better fare :wizard:

You don't necessarily have to wait for a Ding. Sign up for Southwest e-mail notification of specials. They will send you a special at least once a month.
