As you all know I WON the trip to go and can pick any deluxe we want, to stay for 5 nights, we were planning on going for eight anyway so I only have to pay for 3 nights :thumbsup2 anyway, we were originally thinking of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge in the deluxe savannah view room but now my husband says he wants to stay at the Polynesian Concierge BUT the kids are really excited about the animal kingdom, how much of a pain is it to switch resorts, we would do 2 at AKL and 3 at Poly then at old key west 2 bedroom villa, this would involve moving 3 times in 8 days, This will be a trip of a lifetime for us because we can not afford the poly concierge for $550 a night so this would be extra special for us, and a chance to be able to try out some places we would never get to. but would it seem like too much to move that much?
Expedia is taking so long to call us, so I am thinking this through and need your opinions. I was told that they would call us within 10 days of us signing the papers so that is by Friday, but I am chewing at the bit here

We have never resort hopped before but if I were you, I would do it all.

We have stayed at the Poly and AKL and enjoyed both. This is an opportunity that would be worth the 3 switches.

I have read that it is a very easy to do split stays. It would just be a matter of weather or not you want to unpack and pack that many times.

Poly concierge and AKL, I'm so envious. GO FOR IT ALL!

Go for it.... resort hop!! Live out of your suitcase... you know you want to :thumbsup2

OK...differing opinion here....

Last Feb we stayed AKL concierge 3 nights and Poly concierge 3 nights. This past Feb we stayed 7 nights WL concierge. While both AKL and Poly were great - staying in the same place for the whole time was definately easier....now you are already going to be switching to OKW so I am going to vote for AKL. We really did like the Poly but found it 'old' compared to AKL. So....if you have 'Disney nostalgiaitis' then the Poly may be different for you. The concierge was good but I found the AKL concierge nicer - in terms of offerings, staff and the general atmosphere. For some reason the Poly concierge seemed like a 'free for all'. We also found the buses at AKL were the best mode of transport yet (we've also stayed at POR). Having one dedicated direct bus is great!! Granted the monorail was 'cool' for MK from the Poly, but you still have to go to TTC for Epcot and catch a bus for the other parks. Another consideration - DS loves AK so we went there often and it is literally 5 mins from AKL. As for the animals on the savannah - to us not such a big deal - it was OK, but not the biggest woop. Because of the savannah the view from the balcony at AKL is not as 'lush' as some other resorts - esp. the Poly.

OK....from the beginning of this e-mail to the end I have officially changed my mind LOL (woman's perogative!!). Because this is a 'chance of a lifetime' why don't you go ahead and do both - then you can make up your own mind and say that you;ve experienced both....the switch is really easy, Bell services takes care of it all (unless you are renting a car?? - can't remember - then you could drive the luggage over yourself if you prefer)....AND when you get back I want to know all about OKW....I am thinking about renting points and staying there sometime!

If you're going to resort hop, I'd limit it to 2 resorts. We moved 3 times in 10 days on our last trip and I have to say I was pretty weary of packing, unpacking and wasting precious vacation time moving resorts and checking in/out. You've got great options to choose from, but just think through all the time wasted with check in, check out, driving to and from, packing and unpacking. Enjoy whatever you do!

They called me today to book and they said that they will see if my choices and dates are available and they will get back to me. :woohoo:
My question is, I know that Disney moves your luggage, what about all your travellers cheques? Do you take those to the parks with you or put them in your luggage? I don't feel right about leaving them in my luggage but I don't want to carry that much with me either.

Thanks for all your help!

We had to switch rooms this trip-Disney did the luggage move and provided us with a safety deposit box at the front desk for any valuables we stored in the room safe. It was a simple process-filled out the card for the safety deposit box, they gave us the key and at the end of the day, our luggage was in our new room and we went to the desk and picked up our valuables. Have fun.

I'm curious about switching resorts also. We are staying at All Star Sports for 5 days and then moving to Yacht and Beach Club Resort for 5 days. Does Disney move the luggage for you? Do I mention this when I book both Resorts?
Just curious.

Tantor, I've often switched resorts and Disney takes care of the luggage. I just took my bags down to bell services (or called them to pick them up) on my departure day, and the luggage gets to your new resort that afternoon.

Mousy_in_canada, if this is your dream trip then just go for it and experience as many resorts as you can. Maybe you could try and divide up the luggage so you don't have to unpack and repack every time?

Thanks for the info princess pooh!!

We resort hopped and it was no big deal. We just went to the park and went back tot he new resort and our bags were there. :)

I LOVE AKL so I'm biassed...but if I had a freebie, I might try the GF or Yacht or Beach clubs; those are out of my price range normally.

Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a blast, and knowing that you won the trip will make it even better! You can just spend more on mouse ears and mickey ice cream bars! :mickeybar
