Need Advice On Renting DVC

Just a reminder someone can still rent points and not show up on the Orange County page.
1. They are owners at a non WDW property (VB, HHI, AUL, VGC, VDH)
2. They could be associate members and have access to their relatives membership to book reservations, bank and borrow points.

Also remember as @dchronister stated, "If it doesn’t feel right in your gut, it probably isn’t!"
True but they would gladly disclose that...... actually they do in their rental post.... the renter needs to be smart enough to know that only the Orange County resorts are going to show up on Phil Diamonds website.....

But this is part of YOUR Due Diligence

Hey y'all! I wasn't sure where to post this so Im throwing it out there-

Does anyone have any tips for renting DVC points? My family and I really want to go in December but man does it hurt the wallet! Wondering if going the DVC rental route is worth it?

Detail removed.
There is a good chance you are far too late for this December

Before the mods get mad at me ...... I not only not asking the OP to answer this,
In fact OP please don't answer this here.......

However, for the sake of discussion....

Depending on where, when, etc..... you MIGHT still be able to pull something off of this year.... just don't be to picky....

I would try to rent an existing reservation

I agree,
I have had less than zero luck with face book.....
That having been said I think my post for the last 3 years are still search able here.....
Not sure about the other site before that......

I've had very good luck on FB. There was another DVC website, {which we are apparently not allowed to reference}, which had a rent/trade board but it has since closed down. It re-opened under the new name with new leadership.

I had used that other website a lot before they closed down.....
I Had a lot of good luck and several renters reached out to me for a couple of years after they closed...
My experience or maybe impression with 3 different Facebook groups was Chaos theory.... and a fourth the "owner" was well um ...... anyway she and I didn't see eye to eye,

I think I know which group you're talking about. That's the one I've had the best luck on, lol. I think that her endless rules give the renters a lot of faith in the process.

Sounds a lot like what was said in Germany in the early 1940s.
No thank you

I don't need to be a part of that,
If that was the last game in town, I would just have to go on more vacation

Oh man, she wasn't *that* bad. Page 2 on this discussion is way to early to invoke Godwin's Law!

We're DVC owners and have rented via David's Vacation Rentals two times and seriously considering putting our points up for rent this year and would definitely use them again.

Personally I'd just opt for a moderate at this point. It's pretty late in the game to be renting for a December reservation and most of the confirmed reservations I see on the sponsor site are ridiculously priced. 400 a night for POFQ during the week of Christmas. 3 grand or so for 7 nights and be done with it, plus if you really need to you can cancel later on.

I would be sure to check prices. Not all DVC rentals will be less than booking a room. To me a studio is not a bargain over a resort room. You will not get daily housekeeping nor will you be able to cancel like you can with Disney.

Those are two things that are worth thinking about. Especially the cancellation policy on most DVC rentals. I, for one, don't mind the lack of housekeeping. But, it's always good to compare the best rate with a DVC rental. My rentals often come out to be about the same price as a moderate. My renters get the extra advantage of the kitchenette, Deluxe locations and amenities and extra evening hours.

You're too late. DVC is booked at 11/7 months out, and this is last minute by DVC standards.

The only way you're going to get anything at all is with a confirmed reservations, which several brokers offer.
