We are planning to buy a new digital camera. Right now we are looking at the Canon PS A540 and the Kodak EasyShare C875. I want to be able to take decent low-light pictures, specifically Main Street at night, the Castle at night, etc. Will either of these cameras do the trick? I don't need professional quality photos, but would like to get as high a quality as possible. Our budget is around $300. Thanks for your help!

I'm in the same exact boat as you.
I'm looking for a great camera (not SLR) that will take great low light photos, especially of fireworks and the spectromagic parade.
I can afford up to $350.

If you are really willing to spend $300, then you are looking too low in models. For Canon, you should look at the S2 IS, SD 700 IS, or the A630. All are in your price range at Buydig, a respectable discount online shop.

Also, in general terms, Canons are better at low light than Kodak.
