I recently changed my reservations from the WL, which is my ultimate dream vaca to FW. I know, I know....huge change, but our best friends are going with us and they are taking their camper, so we decided to stay there too. I am so afraid I am going to regret it bc I have been wanting to do WL this time soooo badly. the other reason i changed is bc we have a three year old who MUST nap or we will all be miserable. I figured the cabins would be better this time since she is still so young. At least she will have a separate place to sleep so we don't all have to go to bed at the same time. My plan is to stay at WL next time when she is a little older and less likely to ruin our trip if she doesn't get any sleep.
So, on to my question....I have never been to FW, never seen FW and dont know a single person who stayed there...so what do I need to know, other than to rent a golf cart (already did this)? Especially what I am interested in is which loop to request (you can request a loop right???). We are going the third week of october so any advice would be great. Im a little bummed that the ferry to MK is so far from the cabins but I guess the golf cart will help with that. I just so had my heart set on WL, just one reason being is that I love the fact that its literally a hop, skip and a jump down the ramp and onto the ferry to MK. So honestly, give me your thoughts....I can always change my mind if need be.

Thanks,
kelly

I'm not sure which loop to request as we have never stayed in the cabins, but I hope you realize just how large Fort Wilderness really is. I agree that it would be nicer to have a seperate area for your lil one to sleep in. I have always wanted to stay in the cabins too, but I couldn't justify the cost of the cabin plus the rental of the golf cart which you will absolutely need. Do you know if your friends will be able to be near you? If you don't think so and have your heart set on WL, then you could always meet up with them. WL and FW share busses and the boat to MK. It wouldn't be as difficult as if you stayed at another resort.

The pros though is that there is a true serenity in the campground. We always visit the campground even when not staying there as it is so very nice to get away from some of the hustle and bustle.

We were in the same situation (friends with RV - our family in the cabins). When we made our reservations the RV'ers requested Loop 1100 and we requested Loop 2100. Both of us also mentioned while making our reservations that we had friends staying in the other loop. Loop 1100 & Loop 2100 back up to each other so it was a very easy walk to each other's places. We have stayed in a cabin 3 times without a golf cart and never had an issue with transportation. Hope you have a great trip!

Hello. I stayed in the FW cabins and I know you are going to love it and have a good time. We stayed in the 2300 loop. I had a loop requested (forgot which one) but I didnt get it because we arrived way before check in time so they gave us what they had at the time. I also had a golf cart reserved for us, because everyone was telling me you need one, but not really! They are expensive and fun but the transportation is great too, not that long of a wait. So I cancelled the golf cart when we arrived.

i don't think the loop arrangement is a big deal, because where ever you are you should be near a pool and laundry site. Yes the marina is far from the cabins but thats why the buses take you to the marina. Dont worry and have fun! :)
