Hi everyone,

We are going to WDW in November! We are trying to decide if we would like the Ft Wilderness cabins. We have stayed almost everywhere except there. We will be coming with 5 little ones (3 families), so thought it might be fun for them!:confused3 My questions are, is there a boat that takes you to the MK? On the website it says you have to take a bus, but some of the comments here sound like we can? Also, does anyone know where I can see pictures of the pool other than Allears? For those that have stayed there, what did you think of it? Our other choice is the Beach Club LOL.......I know, we have stayed there a few times.....a whole different vibe LOL.

Oh, and do you have to pay for a golf cart? How long is the walk to the bus stop?

TIA!:)

yes you do have to pay for golfcart. and you should reserve in advance. the cost is per day i think. not the cheapest thing in the world.

max occupancy is 6 per cabin

Golf cart rentals are near the front entrance of Fort Wilderness

Outpost (407-824-2742) number to reserve Fort Wilderness golf carts

Transportation Between Other Walt Disney World Destinations

There are buses running within the campground to get you to the marina, the trading posts, pools, Hoop Dee Doo Review etc

Boat

Magic Kingdom theme park is accessible by water launch (also known as water taxi) from:
• Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
• Disney's Polynesian Resort
• Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
• Disney's Wilderness Lodge

^ incase you wanted to visit any of the other Magic Kingdoms resorts by water from FW

There are maps available online of Fort Wilderness. Even with that, know that Fort Wilderness is bigger than it appears. They have their own bus system (separate from the theme park busses and Magical Express busses) that run just inside Fort Wilderness. The maps show a purple line, for example, that runs through one area, orange runs through the middle, etc. Essentially, you leave your cabin and walk (usually a short distance) to catch a bus. That bus takes you to either the front, where you stand in line to catch another bus for the theme park you want - or you take it to the marina where you can get a boat to Contemporary, MK, etc.

We did that 2 years ago. It was nice, once. Not sure I want to do it again. We prefer to be a little closer because you spend a lot of time waiting on Disney transportation.

Golf carts are expensive, BTW.

Could a guest take a golf cart from the cabin to the main bus route? Is there a place to park the carts?

There is golf cart parking at both the Outpost (buses to parks),the marina and both of the pools. You should also check out the camping forum here on the Dis,they have a lot of info on Fort Wilderness.

Does anyone know if we can rent a golf cart from outside DW and have it delivered to our cabin at FT. Wilderness?

There are whole discussions on the renting of golf carts outside of Disney and having it delivered. This is over in the camping forum. We thought about it and then didn't rent one at all.

We LOVED the cabins. It is definitely a different vibe and like someone said, you don't realize how big it is until you check in. The internal buses run pretty smoothly and are easy to catch and go anywhere in the resort.

Loved the boat and the marina. We used it just about every day and loved the ride. There are places to park the carts everywhere so no worry about that.

The pool is nice - but not jaw-dropping. We went down there once and my kids didn't ask to go again. They do a lot of activities down there and it was just too crowded for us. If you are going in November, I wouldn't base a lot of my decision on the pool.

Good luck with your planning!

Thanks so much for the info. Is there a cabin loop that you like over the others? We will have a car with us btw.

We will have our car so we don't mind driving to the parks. How long does it take to drive to the parks?

We had our car, too. It wasn't that long to get to the parks. You are near the TTC and it seems like it was a 5 minute drive. You are really close to everything.

Keep in mind that when you are IN the resort - on Fort Wilderness property - you will want to rely on buses, bikes or a golf cart. There is pretty much no place to park within the resort.

We were in the furthest loop from the trading post - and we liked the seclusion. We did think it would be nice to be closer to the marina. You might want to look at a Fort Wilderness map and pick something in that direction.
