Okay, so we have the coveted one dinner out alone with my husband while my son hangs out with his Gigi and Pops when we get to WDW in a couple of weeks. We are not wine drinkers or haute cuisine fans, but we aren't taco bell people either. We can handle food that is a little different or exotic (think Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, etc.) but we are not into duck confit or any kind of organ meat either. So basically I'm looking for a nice place on property (that we haven't been to before - I'm trying to branch out a bit) where there is enough variety but also has some basic staples to satisfy us if we're not feeling too adventurous that night. I was thinking of Concourse Steak House, Yachtsman Steakhouse, House of Blues, Olivia's, Grand Floridian cafe, etc. Basically a nice night out where I don't have to worry about my son staying in his high chair, etc. So we don't mind if its a casual place (just no happy meals :) )
If anyone has anyother places to suggest, I'd be open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Kona Cafe

Flying Fish

Spoodles

My dh and I both loved Artist Point at WL. I don't eat any of that 'other stuff' either. I had a great piece of beef there. Yummy.
Yachtsman is good too.

We went to the Bistro de France last year. It was really good. It's the place above Chefs in France. Also Le Cellier is suppose to be good. We liked Flying Fish too. ALso I have heard California Grill is really good.

Check out www.allearsnet.com and look at their menus. I checked the other day and some have been updated recently. Just remember some of the menus are examples of what they have.

Concourse Steakhouse is very good but can get a bit noisy because it is next to Chef Mickeys and tends to get a lot of their overflow people... Olivias is also good, but not what I would do for a special meal out. For special meals we've done Artist Point, Shulas, Narcoosees and others, but those 3 are probably my favorites. Artist Point does not have quite as much romantic atmosphere, it feels less intimate than the others.

LeCellier....Eat there every trip (sometimes more than once). It's so quiet you'd never know you're at Disney.

House of Blues is great if you like Cajun food.

I was thinking of Concourse Steak House, Yachtsman Steakhouse, House of Blues, Olivia's, Grand Floridian cafe, etc.

Concourse SH is very good. It's casual and can be loud because of its location -- next to Chef Mickeys and everything echoes in the CR. We just request a table not near CM.

YSH is one of my favorites, for a meat dinner. It's a bit more $$ than the CSH. Great servers, atmosphere and food. It's not as casual dress as the CSH.

HoB's didn't care for it.

Olivia's is one of WDW's best kept secrets! Great food, service and drinks but I feel this is more of a family place to dine.

GFC again more of a casual family place. Not an adults dinner out alone.

I highly recommend Narcoossee's at the GF!

We had a splurge night without our DSs for our anniversary in July and we had a tough time picking. In the end we went with YSH and couldnt have been happier. Everything was delicious, the service was great and we enjoyed the atmosphere(we were in our own little corner). We wouldnt usually spend that much money on a meal with our kids so this was a nice change.
We will be back in WDW alone on our next anniversary and as much as I want to try something new, Im having a hard time not going back to YSH. Luckily I have plenty of time to decide.

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking I'm leaning towards Concourse Steakhouse or Yachtsman Steakhouse since both menus look pretty good.

The Flying Fish on the Boardwalk is wonderful. Nice, but not quiet nice. Great selection, not only seafood. Plus there is always entertainment on the Boardwalk, sword swallowers, piano players. Have fun! :D

We haven't eaten at the Concourse Steakhouse, but we have eaten at YSH, and my vote would definitely be for Artist Point. It's our family's fav., WDW restaurant, and we've eaten at quite a few of them. :) We must have had an unusual exp. at YSH, because we didn't like it at all. FF is also very good, but very loud.
Whatever you decide, enjoy. :)

We've tried them all and found the following in order of absolutely fabulous food and atmosphere:

1. LeCellier
2. California Grill
3. Fulton's Crabhouse

Another vote for Artist Point. Love it love it love it!!!

My dh and I eat there every trip. Love the beef filet, love the smoked portabello mushroom soup, love the berry cobbler! It is a fine restaurant!!

part of it might depend--do you want to steal a little time in a park away from DS as well? If so, I might head for one of the Epcot WS restaurants, and have a fine time sauntering there and "stealing" some shopping, or a ride on Test Track, or getting to sit through the French film without whining, or catching Off-Kilter twice.

I LOVE Narcoosees at GF. And, to make the evening even more special, book a late dinner there (maybe 8:30 or so) and request that you be seated near an outside window. Then, you'll have a great seat to watch the Electrical Water Pagaent when comes around -- that is SO neat! (Narcoosees is right on the shores of the Seven Sees Lagoon!) Narcoosees, of course, if worth going to even without the EWP. ;)
