Hi all! We'll be headed to Disney in 4 days for an awesome vacation!!! I'd love some opinions on where the best character breakfast is for my almost 2 year old son. He will 'flirt' with princesses all day, but I'd love opinions also on what's worth it for the money so we can make a reservation as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help!:flower3:

If he is into the Disney jr characters then Hollywood & Vine in DHS would be a good choice. It will be tough to get a reservation at Chef Mickey at this point, I would think but you could try it.

DD4 went to H & V last year and loved dancing with the characters. The actual buffet wasn't much but then again you aren't there for the food...

Our favorite breakfast is Cape May Cafe at the BC :). Cape May is a must do for us every trip. We love the BC atmosphere and the characters are cute dressed in their beach clothes :goodvibes.

If you don't have a reservation in place you may not get anything.... explore all options and take what you can get.

We loved Cape May Cafe. We got to see Goofy, Minnie and Donald and had lots of interaction with them when they came around the table.

At that age my DD (and my current 6 mo son) loved Tigger and Pooh who can be found at 1900 Park fare in the Grand Floridian and Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. Tigger and Pooh are also at Crystal Palace for lunch and dinner so that would up your chances of getting in, if you are flex with time. Chef Mickey's at the contemporary has bkf, lunch and dinner-thats Mickey, Donald, Pluto, Minnie and Goofy.
Like a pp said, try to go with whatever's avail-its late.
Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club has Mickey and the Gang too-might have good chances there, bc its out of the way and not as heavily booked as others.

Honestly, they are all fun! We have some favorites, but with only four days to go I would take whatever you can get! We love Tusker House, Crystal Palace and Cape May. I think I read you are staying at Poly? Try for Ohana breakfast!

I was just looking at Ohana's! So far, as long as we are flexible with the time, most places still seem to have a spot open. We'll be at Poly the last two days and POP the first 3. We'll have our car, so transportation isn't an issue at all...though my mom seems to want to take the buses everywhere? I think we may book Ohana's. I hope it's worth the $20 a person. :)

? My 2 yr old son should be able to 'eat' free at any of these all-you-care-to-eat places, right?

Chef Mickey & Crystal Palace are our favorites! (If you can't get an ADR, Crystal Palace was taking walkups Halloween weekend, even though ADRs hadn't been available online for weeks.) 1900 Park Fare was delicious, but too cramped for our comfort. Tusker House was our least favorite w/ boring food & terrible service.

Yes. He will be free at all buffets and fixed price restaurants.

Our favorite character breakfast is Tusker House at AK. We try to get an ADR before park opening, because once we finish we are steps away from the safari. IMO, this buffet has the biggest selection, the atmosphere is the most unique and the characters have been great when we've been there.

Cape may cafe for Mickey and friends - buffet = great food (close to HS or EPCOT)
Ohana if you want to be served, mickey, Stich and be close to MK.
Crystal Palace for Pooh and in MK.

I second Ohana and Cape May. They're both a lot of fun, and I've had great food experiences there. CM at Contemporary...well, it's a classic as far as character meals (IMO, because it's been there so long)....but the food quality has gone downhill. As you're looking for places that are "worth it," I'd steer clear of this one.

In the parks, I think Crystal Palace and Tusker House are both really fun, and I think the food at both is good, too!

I can't speak from experience, but I've been told Hollywood and Vine isn't good. And, from experience and what friends have said, while a meal in the castle is a must-do at some point, I would wait until DS is older and he can remember it (as it is rather costly for what you get at breakfast!)

FWIW, we thought Ohana breakfast sucked. It's all you can eat but the only thing served is eggs, bacon, sausage (which is nasty), waffles and potatoes. Not much of a selection for $25 a head - truly paying for the characters. I'd rather pay a few dollars more and go to a buffet where there's more of a selection.

I definitely agree that Tusker House is the best character breakfast there is, it's a favourite of ours

I don't really do breakfast and have been to only one place; Cape May. I found the character interaction to be excellent, in fact I may even call it the best I have been to at any Disney property. Now the food on the other hand I cannot call great like a few have. The fruits were fresh and that was the highlight. What was a real disappointment is I would like to have had a fresh omlet station instead of some pre-made eggs sitting on a steam table.

So in short I would say excellent character interaction that was not rushed at all, good service, but the food was very typical of what I would find at any Golden Corral breakfast table for 1/3 the cost. ;)

We've done H&V twice and had a great character interaction both times. The food is fine, standard breakfast buffet.

Love Cape May! Characters are not rushed; food selection is very good.

We ate at Tusker House for the first time last Friday. It was also very good. I would go there for the food alone. Our service was also very good.

Good luck!
