Need advice on car rental for a day while at WDW

We're planning on driving over to Clearwater to see how much has changed since we moved and to check out our old house.

It looks like I can rent a car from somewhere at the Dolphin (?). But since I've never rented a car before - can any of you give me some tips, etc. re: how to go about this? Do I need to make a reservation for this? I see people checking rates, etc. - what is normally a "good deal" for a one/two day rental? We'll be renting at the end of August.

I reserved a midsize car for one day in June from Alamo at the Dolphin. Using a code from www.rental codes.com, I got it for base rate of $37.04, total with taxes and fees $42.15. I used the code for Walmart customers - Rate code BY, Promo code 430710. These codes are good thru 12/31/04. I reserved in online at Alamo.com. I didn't think that was too bad a price. If anyone knows a better one, I'm all ears (or eyes, I guess, since this is a message board!)
