This isn't DCL related. We returned from our 1st DCL cruise (Eastern) in May. (WE did post a trip report) We are now planning a WDW trip in Dec. and these boards were so helpful for our cruise, that I thought I'd see if I could get recommendations for a camcorder &/or digital camera. We know nothing about either one. If we were only going to buy one, which one would you recommend-a camcorder or digital camera? We have no idea how to even begin looking or what to look for when buying one. Please help us and tell us what to look for...any name-brands and personal favorites would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cameras can be very ATTRACTIVE after you have seen what everyone else has--we don't own any digital cameras, but have cameras, and have went thru a couple camcorders over the years--
We bought a Panasonic Palmcorder Multicam (this will also take still shots) at Walmart--bought it back in March so we would have practice time to plug into computer and email to relatives--so far I have loved it--if you are in the market for that type of thing--
As far as digital cameras--I kind of wish we had one of those too, but we won't--
You will get much help from here- ask friends or coworkers too--maybe they would let you borrow between now and your next trip--
Hope this helps--

Hard to say which would be most important. We have both and use both all of the time. I would suggest that if you do get a camcorder you get a digital camcorder. It won't be long before DVD burners are more affordable and it will be simple to make DVD's for home use.

There have been many discusions on this board on digital cameras. What to buy, when to buy, etc. I think that digital cameras are great. We have done away with our film camera. The things you can do are limitless.

If you only get one, consider the video camera but look at digital. Most digital (if not all) have a snap shot feature so you get a digital still camera built in. Sounds great but keep in mind that the quality of the still portion of the digital video camera is a lower end digital still camera. But, it's there to use!

We have both and love them. We have a JVC digital video camera and a Minolta digital still camera. Worked great on our cruise and everywhere else!

Tlt, you might want to post this on our COMMUNITY BOARD as well, we have lots of folks who have talked about the pros and cons of their digital cameras on that board and I'm sure they can give you some good advice too. :D

I'd be lost without my digital cameras on the cruise!

You should consider one of Sony's digital 8MM camcorders with a built-in "Memory Stick" port for taking still shots. I have one and I love it. You can take awesome video footage, the best picture quality available, and still take snapshots using the 'photo' feature. They run about 800-900 bucks, but you can't find them at Walmart. You need to go to a higher-end store such as BestBuy or Circuit City.

These cameras allow you to import your still photos right into your PC, and of course there's tons of software for editing your video footage.

ENJOY!!!
