Well, I just got off the phone with member services, and made my *very* first DVC reservation - I'm still feeling the afterglow... ;) We are going the last week in January, and are getting a Preferred View 2BR at BoardWalk, so my question is this:

Within the parameters of a Non-Smoking, Non-Handicapped, Preferred View 2 Bedroom Villa at the Boardwalk, what is the nicest room you have stayed in (if you remember the room number), or what general advice would you give me on what to request in my reservation?

I've already asked for a high chair for our 1+ year old, and for a 'High Floor, Epcot View', just on the premise that it would be better to request something initially and then call them back later with more detailed info. I guess we'd really like a good view of the Fireworks in Epcot, but beyond that, we don't really know what we want. Any advice you could offer would be *extremely* appreciated!!! Thanks! :)

The only preferred views that face Epcot and Illuminations are boardwalk views. You don't need "high floor" in the request for boardwalk. In fact all you need to request is non-smoking, boardwalk view, and possibly away from the elevators (in that order, see below). That would get you third to fifth floor (2d is smoking and there are no rooms on the first floor on the boardwalk), and in an area that has best view of Epcot and Illuninations.

The order of your request is important; non smoking should be first obviously. The way yours is listed is probably not what you want. If you have high floor first and then Epcot view, they will treat high floor as the more important request and thus if they cannot give you both you could get "high floor" but somewhere else on the property. In other words, call back and request the following preferences in this order, non-smoking, boardwalk view, and possibly away from the elevators.I do not think you even need to request the third on the boardwalk because I believe there are no two bedrooms on the boardwalk view side that are near the elevators. In other words, non-smoking, boardwalk view should be enough (it is all we have ever asked for with a 2BR and we have always gotten it and had the view of Epcot). The less specific you are the higher the probability of getting it, which is important as boardwalk views are less than 20% of the rooms. Thus, don't even consider asking for specific room numbers. We have been on the third, fourth and fifth floors in 2BR's and they are all fine. Our last stay was in 5011 and 5013, right above the Big River Grill. Those above the Big River Grill have wider porches than the others because of the outside design in that portion of the boardwalk; but again I would not recommend specifying room numbers.

My first trip to Boardwalk was last December. I really wanted the Boardwalk view and preferred the top floor. So I put my request in that order right at the 11 month mark. We ended up with top floor over the quiet pool. I wondered in retrospect if I should have just put Boardwalk view and not worried about the floor.

I can't remember the room number, but we stayed at BWV, top floor over Atlantic Hall! We thought it was going to be loud, noisey and bright! But we were wrong. The view was spectacular (overlooks Y and BC, lake and can view top portion of Illuminations). (Saw ILL in my jammies sipping wine, yahoo!). The draperies were very effective and we didn't here a sound from the folks below or music!

It also is not very far from the kiddie area and side pool entrance (by staircase).

Some of the best points I ever spent!

Best of luck on your trip.

I appreciate all of your advice, particularly that the order matters on requests that you make. I must admit, I had a misconception about requesting rooms. I understand that if you make lots of general requests, it gets harder for them to accomodate you. But I had always thought that if you request a specific room number, that that made it *more* likely that you would get what you want, rather than less. Thanks for letting me know about your experiences - I'll call back member services and change my request. Anyone else with *any* suggestions regarding recommendations at BW, PLEASE feel free to chime in! This will be my first time there! :) Thanks again!
