I was hoping to get some reviews about the following attractions. We have never seen these attractions and don't know if they are worth going to. We will be a party of four adults and four girls ages 8,7,5 &3.

Thanks!

Norway Movie
France Attraction
Ellens Energy Universe ride ( is this even open?)
Figment ride

Also can anyone tell me about the activity for children around the countries? Something about collecting stickers on a mask???

One last Epcot question. Can you cross the lake in World Showcase by boat? I see boats running but I don't understand if this is for special events or if you can just hop on a boat if you want to cross to the other side (and skip some of the countries) Thanks!

Norway Movie
France Attraction

Both of teh above are movies (of course there is the ride at Norway as well. The norway movie is very short, amybe 5 minutes. If you haven't seen them before, they are probably worth viewing.

Ellens Energy Universe ride ( is this even open?)

If your kids like dinosaurs, you should probably go. The first part of teh ride is neat, but then teh Jeopardy game (to me) goes on FOREVER. It does help that I find Ellen irritating beyond belief in any format.

Figment ride

Completely BLAH ride, but it almost never has a line, because it is so bad. The kids might like it.

One last Epcot question. Can you cross the lake in World Showcase by boat?

Yes, if the boat is running, but you won't save any time by doing so. It's a nice ride though.

Norway Movie: It's just a travelogue, really. A little advertisment for visiting Norway. It's worth seeing once, just for the heck of it, if you have seen most everything else you want to see. In other words, if you're pressed for time, don't put this ahead of other more important things. The ride, The Maelstrom, is worth it though - it's a little hokey, but it's still cool.

France: Impression's de France is probably the best "movie" Epcot does (France, China, Canada, Norway, in that order). It's also not a 360 degree screen - it's a seated theatre. It's worth the time to catch.

Ellen's Energy: entertaining, but mostly for kids. It's been years since I've seen it.

Figment: Mostly for kids, but not that entertaining. They changed it from what it used to be years ago and it's not as good anymore. But most kids enjoy it anyway.

Regarding masks: Each country in World Showcase has what they call a "Kidcot Station". Essentially, it's just a table with one or two Cast Members from that country helping kids make stylized masks. The kids seem to love it, as it allows the parents a chance to go look at other things for a few moments without having to entertain the kids.

The stamps are a different animal, if I'm thinking of what you're talking about. You can buy a Passport book anywhere in epcot and get it stamped as you go to each country. It's a pretty cool souvenir.

Norway Movie
Short, well done, and a good way to see what Norway is like.

France Attraction
A really good *very* wide screen movie with some great scenes that blend well with the classical music.

Ellens Energy Universe ride
Ellen is thankfully somewhat restrained (and funny) in this fascinating, educational trip through energy production and use.

Figment ride
Much better than it was, and certainly worth the time. It's usually a walk-on too.

Then again, there's not much in WDW that I don't like! :)

My 9, 7, 4 year old all enjoyed the norway movie.

We also enjoyed Ellen's Energy Adventure, but they are huge Bill Nye fans. And science freaks, so they loved that asspect of it.

They also enjoyed the masks. You get a stamp at each spot, and a charm at each spot. In one country (China, I believe) they learned what year they were born in (rat, ect), and she wrote their name in Chinese on the back of the mask. If you do all the countries, you get a poster at the end. The kids also get to interact with the people in each station. My seven year old liked asking how to say different words in different languages.

Funny story about that.. we just visited France, and he learned how to say yellow in French.. so he could ask for a yellow charm. Then, we move on to England, she asks him what color he wants, and he turns around and whispers "how do you say yellow in french again?" I told him they speak English in England, and she (the lady working at the kidcot station) laughed and said "actually we speak PROPER English".

If you want to see the movies there allright but are from the 80's and really need to be redone. Figment is a fun one for kids, and the Universe of Energy aka Elen's Energy Adventure is good but, somewhat politically sanitized since people have complained about it not being pc like the old pirates of the carribean. I agree though that the France movie does blend well with the music.

Also the boats are running daily from the area near Future World and, go to Morocco and Germany, and another i cant remember though. Though these docks can sometimes close
