I am looking at 3 differents resorts to stay at when we travel in November and would like to know if anyone has stayed at any of theses and what is your review of the resort, distance to Dis, etc. They are Cypress Pointe Grande Villas Resort, Silver Lake Resort and Wyndham Cypress Palms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We actually own at Silver Lake. We have not visited the others. We love Silver Lake but it just depends on what you are looking for as far as amenities are concerned. Silver Lake doesn't seem like it has as much to do as some of the other places we have visited but if you spend most of your time at the parks, it wouldn't really matter. Check in has always been quick for us, maintenance responds quickly, we always had comfy beds, and no bugs in any of rooms (so that's a plus). We have never had any problems here other than an outlet they couldn't get working but we didn't need to use it anyway. They also have a back gate that cuts alot of the traffic time to the parks.....Animal Kingdom could be seen from our resort as well as the back gate leads out just a minute or two from the Animal Kingdom gates! :)

Do the units at Silver Lake have kitchens? I don't mind cooking while on vacation and would love to save some money and not have to worry about spending it on eating out all the time.

Yes, they have fully stocked kitchens and even grills if you want to cook out. We always take our own non-stick pans though because I can't cook in the silver metal kind (the real heavy ones that are all silver? not sure what they call those) to save my life! Everything I cook-sticks! So we take our own pans, plastic utensils, cups and bowls. Not sure if you have that luxury or not which if you are flying, you won't, but there is a stove, microwave, toaster, fridge, etc! Makes it nice to not have to eat out all the time! :lovestruc

I have never stayed at Silver Lake but have driven by it and find it to be in an awful location right next store to an industrial park. Some units face it and that would suck if you had that view every nite.

Can't help with Cypress Pointe, but have stayed at the other 2 in the last 2 years. It was my DH, DS(10) and myself. In both places we had a 2 bedroom that slept 8. A King in one bedroom and 2 full beds in the other bedroom. As far as location, I would pick Silver Lake due to it being close to the AK via the backroad ..just out of the parking lot and almost on to Disney property while never having to hit a main highway. We were in an Older unit in the 7oo building which is close to the pool and on the top floor. It was an older unit, but clean and well taken care of. The only thing that really bugged me, but was very minor is all the mirrors in this Place..a few of the walls in the unit are mirrors... I would also pick Silver Lake for the rooms themselves. What I did not like at Wyndham was that the walkways were right outside your windows so we had to keep the shades closed at all times and you could hear people walking by the windows at all hours...in Silver Lake, they were not like this. Both units had balconys....both were nice..

I think we also liked hanging out at Silver Lake more as well. The Wyndham has 2 outdoor pools that near a pond with a walkway around the edge of the pond, but the pools were pretty small. they activity center was very nice at Wyndham as well with complimentary popcorn and Keurig coffee and hot chocolate.

The pools at Silver Lake were bigger and nicer in my opinion. They have a snack bar out by the pool which also has bar food and alcoholic beverages which is not the case at the Wyndham. Silver Lake had a nice game room for the kids and a computer room to use the internet. We were at the parks for most of the days, but in the evenings they had karoke by the bar by the pool each night..plus one day we were at the pool and they had an ice cream social..you could buy a sundae for a buck and put your own toppings....it also seemed more secluded to us as it is away from the highway(192)..with the Wyndham, the pool area faces 192 and it seemed not as realxing.

.Let us know what you choose! They are both nice, but I would pick Silver Lake 100% over the Wyndham.

I don't recall Silver Lake being beside an industrial park. They have the resort so nicely landscaped that unless you were on a top floor, you shouldn't be able to even see it. The strip mall if that's what you are talking about is across the street from the main entrance into the resort and the resort goes way back in, not along that side road. The back entrance road doesn't have any industrial parks on it by this resort that I recall and if I recall from our recent visit, on the other side of the resort, Silver Lake owns part of that as well.......:confused3 It's a beautiful resort! The hub-bub of 192 in no way affects the beauty of it with the wonderful job they did landscaping the property. Take it from those of us who stayed there......

We stayed at Cypress Point in 2005 and loved it. It was very clean and the pool area was very nice. The location was wonderful (close to downtown Disney). Checkin was quick and easy. We decided on Windsor Hills this time, but wouldn't hesitate to stay at Cypress Point again.

I dont recall an industrial park either and if there were one close, as the previous posted said, it would be hard to see it the way that this complex is situated and landscaped. I looked at all of our pictures, which we took in every direction around the resort and do not see any industrial park

We drove by Silver Lake via Sherberth road and there was was a big warehouse right across the street. Unless there are 2 Sliver Lake resorts.

The buildings across Sherbeth from Silver Lake are some Disney backstage sites---if memory serves, there's a child care center, the Cast recreation center, and I think a Casting building as well. Very few locations from within Silver Lake should see any of this---maybe one side of one or two buildings. From the rest of the resort, you're "inside the gates" and wouldn't have any idea.

I haven't stayed at any of the three, but all are on my list of places I'd be willing to stay. Silver Lake has the advantage of a super location, with very easy access to all things Disney directly from Sherbeth. The two Cypress Pointes have something of a cult following---some people really really like them, and the overall vibe is reportedly very welcoming. Wyndham Cypress Palms is possibly the farthest of the three from the parks, but also has several chain restaurants, a pharmacy, and a Krispy Kreme all within very easy walking distance.

It would be hard to go wrong with any of them, but I think I'd probably take Silver Lake for a Disney-park-centric vacation over the other two.

Thank you for all the great comments. I think we are going to go with Silver Lake. We have heard alot of good things about it and I like that it is close to Animal Kingdom. Keep the comments coming if anyone thinks of anything.

We are staying at Cypress Pointe for the first time in June in two 3 bedroom units and can hardly wait. I do like its close location to DTD.

I stayed at Silver Lake back in 2003 when they were jsut biulding the new Points section (the back gate was not there yet). One cool thing about it was standing in the pool area, you could see the top of the Tree of Life at AK. That's how close you are!

Don't mkae the same mistake driving that we did. When you come to the stoplight at Sherbeth and Osceola, don't go straight to get to AK. That's the cast member parking - LOL! Take aright and then you need to look for a small sign to turn into the AK parking plaza. I would miss that sign every time and have to go forever to find a way to turn around.
