Our week at Disney is supposed to be historically one of the lowest crowd times, BUT we can not get a reservation at the BBB for my 5 year old. Can someone please recommend something else we can do? We all had our heart set on the BBB. I wonder if there is another place close by that does something similar (non-Disney)? Any helpful advice would be so appreciated!!!

I am assuming you are trying both locations (DTD often is easier to get)?

I would just suggest to keep trying, not sure how long until your trip, but I wouldn't give up until the last minute, there can always be a cancellation.

What about the Pirates League in Magic Kingdom? They have a mermaid package for girls who don't want to be pirates. If you have done BBB before this would be something different.

Thanks for the tips. We have tried both locations (and the mermaid package at Pirates League) Everything is completely booked. We are going the week before Thanksgiving. I will keep trying....

Yes, I would suggest to keep trying.

I made a late ressie for my 6yr old just 2 weeks ago, and we'll be there 10/4-10/11. The initial ressie was at DTD, but we wanted MK really bad!

Then I checked in the restaruant reservation cancellation thread for October looking for restaurants (obviously!), and there was a MK BBB cancellation!:yay:

Keep calling, and also check the forums for cancellations.pixiedust:

Keep trying! Last year we did a sort of last minute trip (by adr standards) and couldn't get BBB at all. I called about twice a week starting a month and a half out from arrival date. 1 week before our trip, I managed to snag an apt at the castle, and in the morning! (woohoo!) I have been trying for this trip, and so far nothing, (except for some evening ones at DTD). Will keep trying until we leave! lol
As an edit, I have heard there is a place in GF, Ivy Trellis I believe. That does something. Not the same, but maybe close enough?

Not quite as special, but a few idea:
Try the main street barber shop. They do cuts and glitter gel.
Look at the spa at the GF. The have some packages for little girls. Let her wear her dress and take a crown.
Do it yourself. Take a dress and crown and do her nails and hair in the room. I really don't like the BBB hair styles so this really appeals to me.

What about one of the princess tea parties at the GF? Perfectly Princess or the one with Alice.

As a last resort, why not purchase your own princess dress and have a fun at the hotel getting her dressed up for the day yourself? You could order room service for breakfast or send dad out on an errand to get breakfast. You could practice doing different hairstyles that will work with the costume. If she has long straight hair, consider using a curling wand or curlformers to make long spirals. Or if she wants a braid, practice fishtail braids. You can also go shopping together prior to the trip for princess make-up and put together a little make-up kit that she can use on the trip.

If you want a bun, here is a video to a simple sock bun with glitter spray. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Gskwd4dEY

You tube has how-to videos on almost all the Disney princesses hairstyles.

I seriously suggest trying everyday. Two weeks from tomorrow I had a CRT reservation. I wanted BBB for my daughter and her friend. called everyday. About 3 weeks ago scored two at same time at DTD. still would like MK but DTD works, and I'll keep trying for MK.

To show you how truly keep trying back in june I was in Epcot. It was a million trillion degrees. Another friend of mine was visiting (I live near Disney so go a lot) and our daughters were melting down-both in terms of being young and melting down, and we were all melting from the heat. I had to cancel a day of ADR. While on the phone I was like-by any chance any BBB or Pirate's League reservations available tomorrow for 2 girls. Crazy enough she said yes. I almost cried tears of happiness in my own sweat.

I don't think I'm allowed to post a link. But on WDW Fan Zone I wrote a post about last minute reservations for dinning and things like BBB/Pirate's League.

Called on our drive down last year after trying for months and scored one. Keep trying- fingers crossed it will pay off!!

The salon at Shades of Green does the Princess Makeovers for cheaper. You don't get the fairy Godmother, but if the hairstyle and makeup are what's important, give them a call. You can visit the salon without being a member of the Armed Forces. Check out their website, shadesofgreen dot org. Hairstyle, makeup, tiara and glitter for $30. Call 407-827-3529.

We were in a similar position a couple of years ago. They sell the BBB tiaras in the whop next to the castle. We got one of those for our DD4, I put her hair up, and she got to wear lip gloss. All the CM still made a big to-do. So while she was a little disappointed, she got over it quickly. I think sometimes we parents are less resilient than our kids.

Thank you all for these great ideas. We will definitely keep trying. We have a breakfast scheduled at CRT, but this BBB is a really big deal for us. Long story short -- after years of infertility treatment, on the day we got our ultrasound and the dr said "it's a girl", my husbands first words were "we can take her to the BBB!" So, I will definitely keep trying for her and HIM!!!! Lol.

Awww....sweet! princess:

I don't know if they still do this, but in the past they saved some times for walk ups. We booked it to the castle at park opening and I was able to squeeze my daughter into an appointment. This was a couple years ago (she decided a week before the trip she wanted to try BBB, so not much notice for us to plan). Anyway - they were able to get her an appointment that day for about an hour after opening. If all else fails, you can always try that.
