Looking for Advice. Want to know if it's worth buying a one day park ticket to Disney World. (probably Magic Kingdom) a day at the end of February or would it be a waste of money due to the number of MyMagic + bands. My twenty-two year old daughter and her boyfriend are headed to Orlando to visit his grandparents. She had planned to spend one day at WDWMK and one at Universal. Our last family trip was in 2011. You all remember, when you could roll out of bed, play it by ear, pick a park, grab some paper fast passes and enjoy your day. I have informed her of the MyMagic bands, their purpose, of the advance reservations of on property visitors, annual pass holders and throw away room people, who will have their times scoped out for the rides. She is sadly considering skipping Disney (a first) and just heading to Universal for two days. Help? Does anyone have advice? Is it worth it to buy the tickets or would they just be turned away at Haunted Mansion, Thunder Mountain, Splash, you get the idea. The thought of skipping WDW is very depressing to her. All suggestions welcome. THANKS.

Its worth it. She should buy her tickets now, set up a my disney experience account and add her tickets to it, and get some fast passes which she can do 30 days ahead of time even if she is not staying on property. Even if she doesn't do that she can get fast passes the day of at a kiosk in the park to most of the rides. The only other advise is to get there before rope drop to a park that doesn't have Early Magic Hours for onsite guests that day and ride the rides that will get long lines first thing. I would never pass up a day at Disney and if the thought of doing so is making her depressed she should definitely go and have a great time.

Normal standby lines are currently offered for all attractions and no one (besides those too short to ride a particular attraction) is ever "turned away". WDW still has plenty to offer the last-minute guests, but slightly longer lines are a possibility. I say go.

She doesn't need a magic band to make advanced FP reservations. All she needs are tickets linked to her MDE account. If she buys the ticket right now, she can make reservations 30 days in advance. Crowds are relatively low to moderate at the end of Feb, so the only FPs she might not get at 30 days are the A&E M&G and SDMT. She and her BF should be able to manage well, and if they schedule the FPs for late morning to early afternoon, they should (hopefully) be able to get more from the kiosks once those are used. If not, standby is always an option.

In early April I got to the TTC parking lot at 745a, bought one ticket at MK gate, was in park at RD at 845a, CM helped me link tickets to my ME that I had open on my phone, and was in the park with others for a full day at 9am. Rode rides early, used FP+ for mid day and was able to have a great day. Getting on 7DM or seeing A&E may be a challenge, but otherwise you can see and do plenty that time of year with no problem. Riding any the mountains several times without lines may be issue, but you should still be able to experience plenty of MK.

I'm a newbie when it comes to Disney trips and have only ever gone one day at a time. Both times were in December and had an amazing time! You can still get a lot done in 1 day :) Just buy your tickets and make your fastpass selections as soon as you can

Single day tickets are ridiculously over priced. I don't think it is worth it.

I think it depends on a few things. Is she going to get her ticket now and book FP+ ahead of time? Is she planning on arriving early in the day and staying late to get a full day? Can she afford the cost for a one day ticket since a one day versus a two day ticket at Universal is about the same cost?

My BIL just got back. They rolled in around 11 and purchased their tickets. They didn't bother making any FP+ bookings even after going into the parks. They had lunch and did a couple rides then left. He felt it was a waste of money.
