I was wondering what section to request at the SSR. Originally I had thought The Springs but noticed on the Transportation Board that some were complaining of buses consistently being full at the Springs stops. Would the Grandstand section be better? I have a 2 year old and almost 5 year old. We wouldn't mind a short walk but I hate the thought of waiting, and waiting, and waiting for a bus. Also dh has NEVER been to Disney and isn't the most patient man in the world so I'm trying to avoid a disaster. TIA.

I would probably request the Grandstand for the view, or Congress Park for the convenience. We stayed in CP last weekend and had a great view of DTD, not to mention it is just a short 5 minute walk to DTD so your husband wont have to wait for a bus if you opted to walk:thumbsup2

If this is his first time however, you better download some patience into him cause Disney is one giant line:laughing:

I would not fret over it, as it probably won't matter. Most rooms at SSR are, assigned at check in so even if you request it, you will probably be offered what is available when you arrive.

If you arrive early, you could pick whichever building you want & have a 95% chance of getting it. I arrive 9:30 - 10am & always get whatever I ask for & I don't make any room requests when making my reservation. I would recommend not going with the Springs, though. We stayed in the springs & yes it's convenient to get to the Lobby, but how often do you really need the lobby? The buses were ALWAYS full, so we had to stand almost every time in the bus & a lot of times had to wait for the next bus. Once on the bus it's smooth sailing...err...riding? :)

I guess I was also concerned about not having a super long trek to the main pool and food area. I have to get over that fact that not everthing will run smoothly:rotfl: Thanks for the advice. We're getting there around 11:00 so maybe I'll get lucky and get the Grandstand if I request it at check-in.

Arriving early does help a lot, IMHO. We arrived once at SSR after 7:00 p.m. and got a room in the Paddocks. The building was newly opened and very nice, but quite a walk from the main buildings. And the circuit breaker was off, so we had no lights for about an hour  (but that's another story....). When my DH and kids did a split stay between OKW and SSR last week, they arrived early at SSR and were in Congress Park. I have noticed on my stays there that the buses are quite crowded by the time they reach the Springs.

We just stayed in the Grandstand a couple of weeks ago. You are picked up first by the busses, but then you have a very long ride thru the resort to all the other stops. You are dropped off first at night.

The only negative would be the very long, and I mean L-O-N-G walk to the main pool. Not much fun with little ones.

IMHO, I don't think the walk to the main pool is that far from Grandstand. I've never stayed in that section, but on our last trip (we stayed in CP) we frequently got at Grandstand there to go to the Artist's Palette to grab a bite to eat or pick up packages that were shipped from the parks. We got off at Grandstand since it's the first stop so we wouldn't have to ride to all the stops before the Springs. It's only a couple minute walk especially if you are closer to the pool area.

The new pool and interactive play area looks great for the kids at Grandstand. That said, we nearly always request CP. We love the short walk to DTD.

Have fun!

The DTD bus is a internal bus in SSR & OKW. If the walk is too much &/or you're carrying a lot of stuff to the pool, you could always hop on the DTD bus & get off at the pool.

We were not close to the new pool at all. We had to cross a pretty big parking lot to the right of the bus stop just to get to our room. Now we did have a 5 year old who DH ended up carrying to the room each night, so that may have made it seem longer.

There are four buildings in the Grandstand area, unless you have stayed in the further ones, not sure you can truly say it is a long walk or not. Getting off at the Grandstand bus stop and then walking to the main area would not be the same comparsion.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll stick with the Springs and hope for the best. If all else fails, we'll take a cab to whatever park we're heading for in the AM and just take the bus back.
