I know you can take the Lynx Link#50 from the TTC to Seaworld but I need advice from people who have actually done it. I will travelling from the Poly with my DH and DS (who will be 5). I presume the bus leaves you off in front but is it a long walk through the parking lot? When we leave will we be standing on a highway waiting for the bus to take us home? Should I just bite the bullet and pay for Mears? (I would hate to do this but maybe I should with traveling with a 5 year old.) Please any advice from people who have taken this route would be appreciated. Thanks .

I have the same question. I am leaving on Sunday. I would appreciate it if anyone who has done this could advise us on this!

I hate to sound flippant, but if you can afford staying at the Polynesian you can afford the Mears shuttle or renting a car from the National at the Car Care Center for the day. I cannot imagine taking the Lynx all the way to Sea World and back with a 5 year old. It's at least a 30 minute drive and probably an hour or more by public transportation.

Just to stay on-topic, I recall seeing a Lynx bus stop on the edge of the parking lot which is no where near the highway.

robinb,

Someone on this board suggested I take Lynx ---I did not know it even existed. They also thought Mears charged way too much and suggested I use the money I saved for lunch. I am only exploring my options.

I am a stay at home mom and I am always looking for ways to cut costs. Because of the many cutbacks I make is the reason why I can afford to stay at the Poly this time!

Just to add I think Mears charges a ridiculous amount to drive us to SeaWorld. If anyone else who has used Lynx to get to Seaworld, please let me know your experiences. Thanks

I agree with you Frankiemom, I think that Mears charges too much as well. Rental car is expensive as well. Then you have to include the parking costs at Seaworld as well.

Sorry Robin, but you did sound flippant. We were asking for info from users who have done this, not a lecture on how not to cut costs. I am trying to find ways to cut costs so that I can afford to go to Seaworld in the first place. Let's see, pay for Mears transportation or pay for Seaworld tickets.... I think the choice is obvious.

People really shouldn't count other peoples money

I took Mears to SeaWorld about 4 years ago. What a disaster. We got there ok but had to wait in the parking lot for over an hour for them to show up. I had a 4 yo and a 18 month old. They told us what time to meet them in the parking lot. We got to that spot 15 minutes early. So we didn't miss them.

It might be worth looking into renting a car from National for the day, or 24 hour period.

Good luck :)

I am also a SAHM and I am not adverse to saving money. For instance, I bring a cooler into my room for milk and juice and my family has breakfast there every morning. However, my comfort is paramount on a vacation as I assume yours is otherwise you would not be staying at a deluxe resort. Money is important, but my time is worth something to me too and taking the bus eats up too much of the time I could use feeding the dolphins at Sea World or just hanging out at the resort.

You may want to look into renting a compact or mid-sized car from the airport. The cost of a shuttle or limo from the airport is usually pretty close to that of a rental car and when you add a trip to Sea World you will probably be at the same price point, plus you'll be able to eat off-property if you want to.

OK, I wrote all of the above and then I looked into the Lynx a little more. Now ... I'm going to do something that I usually don't do. I'm going to say that I was ... that is .... um ... well ... wrong. I have a huge adversion to busses, so that clouds my judgement sometimes :D. I looked up the Lynx schedule here: http://www.golynx.com/fares/schedule.asp?route=50. The bus leaves every half hour and only takes 20 minutes each way. The bus fare would be about the same as parking at Sea World. So ... given that you will be at the Polynesian and you'll be able to walk to the T&TC the Lynx bus may be in fact the correct choice for you. Just make sure you let the driver know where you are going and sit in front. S/he will be able to remind you to get off at the correct stop.

We took the #50 last year and we'd do it again It took about 1/2 hour, I think. We boarded at the TTC and got off across the street & parking lot from Sea World. The Renaissance Sea World was right there. The parking lot is not even a block long and you are right at the front entrance.

You will not be standing on a crowded highway when you leave, but if you stay until closing, the road will be crowded and it will take the bus longer to get back to TTC.

If you go to www.golynx.com you can find out the scheduled times and prices. I think the 5 year-old will be free and I think over 6 is 75 cents each way. Can't go wrong.

If your 5-year-old is like many, she may find riding the bus an adventure. Have fun!

MickeyMagic,

Thanks so much---I really needed to hear from someone who travel on the #50! I think we'll go for it!

Thank you very much. That is the detail that I was looking for. We are leaving on Sunday, so I am glad that I saw your post before I left. We are going to try it.

Thanks Again!

DolphinBoy,

We are not leaving til May 9---if you think of it can you post your experience on #50? I would appreciate it . Thanks and enjoy your trip.

We took the 50 link to Seaworld from the TTC 18 months ago - the service was fine. It should be very convenient to you staying at the Poly - just a walk to the TTC - we had to travel on a Disney bus from AS Movies. The bus came bang on schedule and stopped at Seaworld on the road right by the parking lot. You then had to walk across the parking lot - a very short walk - 5 minutes max?

Don't make the same mistake as us coming out - when you leave Seaworld - we were instructed by Seaworld employee to turn right - there is a little bus depot where many tour buses stop - this is not the right one - we waited here for the 50 link and of course missed it. We then realised we must be in the wrong place - you need to get back to the road in the direction you came in - cross the road and there is a bus stop right in front of a large hotel - can't remember its name now, and there is a stop with a pink pawprint - the later bus was also right on schudule by the way.

In our opinion the Lynx service, although limited, is a major bargain - just wish they did a service up to Universal. We are going to try the link yo Old Town this trip.
