Need advice from anyone that works in IT

I'm having a problem with my laptop that has pretty much rendered it useless. I get that "Blue Screen of Death" that says Physical Memory Dump and gives me this error code:

STOP:0X00000007(0X00000001,0X03640003,0X00000000,0XA970CCA0


Then when I try to restart the computer and boot it in safe mode, it just goes into the same loop of the blue screen. I'm running XP, and nothing is new. I haven't installed or uninstalled anything. Does anyone know what this could be? Or anyone know of a tech help website I could use? Thanks

Unfortunately the STOP:0X00000007 is usually a hardware failure, especially if you cannot get the computer to go into safe mode.

what JCJR said-hardware failure-maybe hard drive-maybe something more major. Thats about the best anyone can tell you from here.

If you can get on line

Google CC Cleaner and download their free app. My computer was doing the same thing so i found this site and then unistalled some junk i had on my computer and all seems fine now.

That error means you either have a bad piece of hardware or a bad driver. The first thing I would recommend is to remove and reseat your RAM. If you boot to the safe mode menu one of the options should be to return to the last known good configuration. If the issue is related to a driver that was recently updated this might fix the issue.

If you have a disk bootable version of Linux (like Ubuntu) you can boot to the disk and do some hunting around. That is a bit more advanced so if you don't know how to do it there is no point in trying to explain it here.

Definitely more advanced, since most people have no idea what the heck Linux is. But the process is really quite simple. You just need to download the .iso file and burn it to a CD. The only tricky part for a non techie might be figuring out how to burn an image file with whatever CD burning software you have.

This is actually one of the best ways to determine if you have a hardware or software problem, because it completely removes the Windows OS from the equation. If you are able to boot from the linux/Ubuntu CD, then that pretty much tells you the hardware is ok. The other good thing is that if you're able to boot into linux, you can then retrieve and save any data that you need, then simply reinstall windows from scratch. Of course, you may also need some help to figure out how to find your data in linux.

I have an older HP laptop that was blue screening, no matter what I did. I couldn't get it to boot in safe mode or anything. I booted from a Ubuntu CD and the machine worked fine.
