Hi. I hope someone out there can help me. I'm kind of clueless when it comes to "hair style speak" and I'm in a pickle. My son wears his hair in a long shag cut because he hates his ears. He thinks they stick out. I think they look beautiful, but I'm biased.

Anyway, his school has implemented a new hair policy for boys. It can't cover the ears or reach below the collar. So, we have to get it cut. I just don't know what to ask for that will look good and balance out the ears. I should add that he also has thick hair, lots of it. And it tends to poof with too many layers.

Any suggestions? He is really dreading this haircut.

I don't have any suggestions, I just have to say WHAT?!? to the imposed haircut. Is he going to private school? I can't believe they're requiring haircuts!

This was my question, as well. Is this private school?

Yep, private school. He's been there for 5 years and they were always very laid back about the dress code and such. Then our school was absorbed by the local diocese and things went nuts. We now have the hair policy now and a new dress code/uniform. Even worse than the hair, the boys now have to wear black dress shoes to school everyday. With shorts and black crew socks!!! :scared1:

DS is not happy, but he loves his school and doesn't want to leave his friends. So, he's saying bye-bye to his long hair. It's sad.

My boys (oldest just graduated) go to a public school here in Texas and they have hair requirements in their dress code. It can not go below the top of the eyebrows, the ear lobe must be seen on the sides and can not touch a collared shirt in the back. I think it's kinda silly and I think there are bigger issues they could be addressing. My kids spent all school year trying to just get by with haircuts. It became a game.
As the kids checked in for Graduation a teacher stood there with scissors, shaving cream and a razor in case a student wasn't in dress code. Seriously ridiculous!

My boys have very thick hair and I tell the stylist to thin it out and it helps with the poofyness.I hope he finds something he likes.
