I have bought a large lot of pins from ebay. My son who is all of 9 and who is autistic too boot. When on the Internet to look up our new pins. He found several listed as scrapper pins. I have spent the better part of a hour to find out we do have good pins, I think. But I don't have time to check them all before we leave. Of course the bad pins are in the trash, but is there a way to check them at WDW or will the cast members we are trading with know and if so is that going to get us kicked out of the park. I am so sick over the whole thing, and at a lost what to do the seller won't contact me. He would be devastated if a cast member turned him down to trade. I myself don't want to trade anything I wouldn't want to receive and can't afford to replace them so my son can trade. Which is a big deal to him. Sorry, I am single Mom now that my husband has passed and I am just dazed. I didn't know Yea... buyer beware. Help... please!

Just because a pin MAY be a scrapper does not mean it is...

Also at this time as long as they have the correct copyrights they will be accepted for trade at the parks. From my experiance, most CMs cant recognize scrappers from the real pins and it takes a dedicated pin fan to tell the difference, sadly a scrapper is often better than sedesma or Euro pins...

If you have a link or list of the pins you have, We can help with our opinions

First off...DO NOT THROW the pins away.

I understand you don't have the time to check through all the pins now. Take the pins with you to WDW, but keep them separate & out of your DSon's pinbag/lanyard/etc. Take them with you when you go to Pin Central at Epcot or find Scoop Sanderson on Main Street, maybe talk to the CMs at the Downtown Disney Pin Store. Show them the pins & you ask *them* if they are tradeable. Perhaps do this while your DS is otherwise occupied, maybe taking a few with you at a time. (I mean, maybe you think you have 10 or 20 or 30 or whatever pins that *could* be scrappers...maybe don't ask the CMs to give you an opinion at one time of every single bloomin' pin you're not sure about.) How's that sound?

Also(like Emily said), if you can post any pics or links, maybe we could give you collectors' opinions.

I can't get the pins to scan so you can even tell what they are. So I am taking the ones I know are good and I am going to try to get a friend to scan the ones I am not sure of. One thing I would like to know about pins we got on our last trip is I looked up some of them and on pinpic I think is the web site name it show the pin and list a date they were released. Is that the date that shoud be on the back of the pin? Like a pin of stitch was released in 2004 and the date on the back is 2005, I saw on several of the pins in a section under the pin it tells you when the pin could have more than one date. But under our stitch pin it doesn't.
Thank you so much for the advice and help.

I also got a lot off of Ebay yesterday that were scrappers. I saw the error on one pin without even looking for it - the auction did not look like it would be fakes...
I got an "offigial" pin trader
and I got a train that says "walere Disney" instead of Walter E Disney.

I emailed the seller last night and have not heard back yet. I hope he is honest and replaces the pins.

Just because info is listed under a pin's name on PinPics.Com does NOT mean that it's necessarily correct. PinPics is a fan-run site, and is kind of like Wikipedia. Errors can (and do!...I've caught a few mistakes myself) creep in.
A pin can be released first in 2004 but then the pin is a rack pin and is never discontinued, so it could be the same pin(from the front) but have a different year on the back and be perfectly legit.
And not all Disney-authorized pins have a year-stamp on them.
