Can anyone give me an average experience on renting your points? Are you pretty successful in renting the amount you want to regularly and how do you do the payment, cancellation policy, etc.? Do you only advertise here on the boards or use other places?

I'm thinking of buying a few more points than we think we will use and renting out the excess to help with payments on the rest. Any input there? I know it's a risk....I'm not going to go crazy, but want to know other's experiences if they've tried this.

Personally, I wouldn't buy extra points with the thought of renting them out, at least, not at the present price. If you'd bought in when points were $50, maybe. I think you'd have to buy quite a few in that case, and if you'd get $10/point, which seems the going rate with a few owners doing $1-2 more than that, you'd still have to subtract the cost of the financing for those points and the membership fees each year.
If the economy slows again, not only would rental costs on this board go down, so would the room rates through CRO. Just my thoughts.

Good points.... That's why I ask the questions, because I don't always think of these things.

I too would be wary of buying points with the intention of renting them out. If you were going to use them yourselves most years, well that would be a good reason to buy them. Tho our rental market is liquid today, there are of course no guarantees that it will continue to be so.
