Need accessibility help in choosing off-site hotel

Hi,

I can't tell you how much every here helped me relax and plan our 1st trip to WDW (1st vacation in a wheelchair for me). Since we had such a great time, we're currently planning our next trip to the WDW in June This time we're going to stay off-site for a few days. We've stayed at HIFS (Holiday Inn Family Suite) which I got around fine in. This time we're looking for something with a better pool for dd 7 and ds 6. We're thinking about the Caribe Royale or the Marriott Orlando World Center (Either in the hotel or a time share). Has anyone stayed at either of these places using a wheelchair or can you recommend another off-site hotel?

I don't use a wc, but I do use an ECV. I have stayed several times at the Marriott World Center (and will be there for a week starting this coming Thursday). In all the running around I have seen it is VERY acccessible, at least in all the public areas.

However, I have never asked for an accessible room.

They do have valet parking, and there is no charge if you have HP plates or hang tag.

Also, they have a buffet breakfast 7 days per week that is to die for. It includes eggs, pancakes and waffles to order; many different meats including both Lox and Parma Ham. A wide assortment of fruits, pastries and other items. They musthave at least 50 feet of counter for the buffet.The price for the buffet is definitely less than at the parks or Disney.

Could you tell me about the main pool area? Like what does it have (slides, fun things for kids) and how it's laid out. Is it a zero depth pool?

I am not a "pool person" so I can't answer part. However, the pool is very large anc can be considered similar in size and facilities to "Stormalong Bay" at the Y&B.

which includes a "photo tour" of the hotel, and the pool is one of the selections. It does say that it incudes whirlpools, water slides and waterfalls.

It does not say anything about zero entry. However they do have a section for questions and comments, and I am sure they would be able to respond directly to your questions.

If you want, I can make a point of checking on it but it will be about two weeks before I can get back to you.

I just got back today. The pool at the Marriott World Center does NOT appear to have a "zero entry".

Also, I received a little flyer with my checkout stuff which givers a promotional rate of $109 per room including breakfast for two for most of the summer. You might want to check with tem on these rates, which are unbelievable.

We stayed @ The Country Inn & Suites Calypso Cay Resort in Kissimmee. They have an excellent 1st floor Handicap Accessible Room with roll-in shower, mini fridge & microwave. The pool area has a section that is zero entry. We've stayed there twice with my friend Steve. He has Muscular Dysrophy & uses a ventilator. The place is only about a year old & is beautiful, free breakfast too. The rates vary depending on the season, but it's worth checking out. The handicapped room also connects to a regular room with two double beds. Good luck
