We have always used a particular travel agent for any trips in the past, but I was very disappointed in her with our last WDW trip. That said, we are planning a Grand Gathering trip for '06. We will have a minimum of 12 people, maybe more.I don't want to use DU as I am more "hands on" and I know it would make me crazy to only be able to "talk" to them via e-mail. I am also not thrilled with the thought of using WDW Travel for the same reason, plus they don't seem to be very knowledgable re: codes etc....Does anyone in Western ma. have an agent that is a whiz with Disney trips? Willing to really work with you, especialy with that many people involved?

Have you thought about doing it all yourself instead? Part of what I love about going to WDW is the planning and preparing! You may find out that you are your own best travel agent!

Whatever you decide, best of luck and enjoy the trip!

My first thought was to do just that, but some of these family members are just barely agreeing to go in the first place, and if per chance I ever screwed up something in the reservations, I know I'd never hear the end of it. I still may talk to them more (it's quite a ways away) and see if they really want to put it in my capable (hah!) hands or go with an agent. The only other drawback I have on doing it myself is that I keep reading how some people make their ressies and then try and put a code on or change something and it either is SO hard to do it, ressies get lost and all kinds of things happen. I think I'd just like the back-up of having someone else to blame ;)

BTW, does anyone else have a sister who just "Has no desire" to go to WDW? She just confounds me. I'm still working on her.

I gotta get some clarification, now I am from Pittsfield - that's W. MA to me, I have a name of a travel agent out there who has experience with Disney, but I gotta tell you, I am better than she is. I don't know of any that will watch codes for you like DU will. With Grand Gatherings, Disney does a lot for you and helps with planning.

If you are near to Chicopee, BJ's vacations is actually Vacation Outlet and they are excellent Disney travel agents, but you may have to be on the phone with them also as I don't think they have any one in store there like they do in Stoughton. There may be an actual Vacation Outlet in Ingleside but I can't get on their web site to check.

You're not too far from me, I'm in Charlemont. The agent we used in the past really disappointed me.She was in an office in Greenfield and the first time we used her she was awesome. The second time so-so and then the third WDW trip was like we were bothering her. We had referred other people to her for their travel plans since she was so good the first time and I just can't understand what went wrong with her. We did use her for a couple other trips we took too, so it wasn't just Disney stuff we went there for.

Well this is who I have used in the past, she is very nice, but again, for travel to WDW I get more service from true Disney travel agencies that specialize in only Disney like www.allseastravel.com and DU. But, she will talk to you all you want and will help with the general organization of that many people going to one place. I'll PM you who to tell her referred you, she will get a kick out of it as we used to be in Rotary together and my family has used her for as long as she has been in business.

How busy is she? Maybe you've been fired as a client and she
doesn't know how to say it-lol! I was an agent for 29 years
and some clients were too labor intensive to be profitable.
Could be your "hands on" technique means you SHOULD make
your own reservations. Lots of changes, phone calls, variations,
special requests and individual needs eat up any profit an agent makes. Most agencys charge for these types of reservations now
in addition to their commision. I'm not suggesting you are bad
just possibly not a valuable client. Does that make sense?
Many agents are paid on the bottom line; could be you are not
revenue generating. I could be wrong and she could be burned
out. The travel industry hasn't exactly been healthy in the last 5 years.

Probably not far enough west, but Colonial Travel Agency,
71 Main Street, Southbridge, MA 01550

(508) 765-5446..... I don't own them or work for them, but have used them in the past and they were great!................P

As castlegazer says:
Rosemary at Global Travel is excellent and very nice. We've never used her for our Disney trips (except for air only last April). Usually we do our own Disney planning, but if you feel that you need someone, she's real good!
:D

Well, since we only ever asked her to price the trip, then book it (we did give her two dates to compare prices) I don't see what she has to complain about. We never changed dates, we did the air ourselves so she only had to book the package & car for us. Maybe she was cheesed off because we did the air ourselves? We would have let her book it but she said she couldn't get the same deal I got (?) so we should just do it ourselves. And they didn't seem very busy. Only ever saw 2 girls in the office and they were never with any people and hardly ever on the phone. Yes, we did stop by occasionaly to see if our papers were in or to pick up flyers, but I don't think that is worth "firing" a client over, especially when they send other business your way.Oh well...I'm not too upset about it.It's just that they were conveneint to where I live and she was so great the first time we used her.

bumping this up because you haven't read my pm!!!
