I was thinking about trying Cape May Clam bake for dinner when we are at DHS.

Do you think this is a good choice or can you recommend somewhere else in that area?

TIA!

Sunlover13 that is a wide open question :lmao:
How many are in your party and what are their ages? What time of year are you going? Do you enjoy buffet type restaurants or do you prefer Table Service? Are you on the DDP? How much do you want to spend?
We (3 adults) have been to the Cape May Buffet and found it to be okay - not great. We are from New England so I think our Clam Bake expectations may be higher than some. We would probably choose another restaurant in the area, but many love it here.
There are many great restaurants in this area encompassing the restaurants of the YC/BC, the Swan & Dolphin and the Boardwalk. Our last several trips have been on the DDP, so we have not experienced any of the Swan & Dolphin restaurants, although many look wonderful.
We have enjoyed Sports Bar food and atmosphere at the ESPN Club, although the menu has been reduced since we were last there. It is mostly appetizers and burgers/sandwhiches now. We have also enjoyed the "Pub Grub" at the Big River Grill. You can eat indoors or outside and the food was good. We have not tried Spoodles, but it has many fans. The Flying Fish Cafe is a Signature restaurant and we enjoyed it very much.
So a bit more info may help us to answer your question more precisely for your group.

For in HS (ok that is still weird to me- MGM:rotfl: ) Brown Derby is the best IMO but it is signature so a little pricier and 2 ts if you are on the DDP. I think spoodles at the BW is a great family restaurant and just a quick boat ride or 15- 20 min walk. Also as Hopefully suggested Flyin fish is one of our favorites- but again a signature place.

2 adults, 1 child (5) Free dining, last week in Sept.

Already going to try Spoodles when we go to the Boardwalk for an evening.

I'm looking for a 1TS restaurant on the dining plan. We will be at DHS that afternoon & evening so I'm looking for somewhere close to DHS or even in DHS.

We did Mama Melrose Fantasmic package last Sept and did not care for the food at all. Would like a nice sit down or buffet dinner as opposed to bar food.

Hope that helps :)

Yeah I was not a big fan of Mama Melrose either:confused3

How about 50's prime time? I have never been to cape may so can not help but I have always wanted to try it!

I think Cape May would be fine. They have numerous options there, ranging from prime rib to pork ribs to seafood, and their kids buffet is similiar to that of any buffet out there, I think there is a wide enough selection. The last time I went to Cape May it was pretty good, I would not go for any of the DHS options but maybe 50's but we are even thinking meh about that one ourselves.

We love:lovestruc 50's Prime Time and Sci-Fi Dine In! They both have great atmosphere and we all enjoyed our food at both of them! Your 5 year old would probably like Sci-Fi!

Sci Fi is tons of fun and one of our favorites. However, IMO the best food there is at lunch - burgers, fries, shakes.

Brown Derby gets great reviews but check the menu as there is very little on that menu that this picky eater would touch.

Also at the Beach Club is Beaches n Creme - yummy but again mainly burgers, fries, icecream.

Hmmm DHS is our least favorite park and really has poor restaurant selections in IMO. If your looking for something a little fancier the Yaught Club gallery is also a nice choice.

The clam bake isn't that good, IMHO.

I'd go to Yachtsman Steakhouse or 50's Primetime Cafe, personally.

Brown Derby and Yachtsman's Steakhouse are 2 credits on the DDP.

How about Captain's Grille at the YC (used to be Yacht Club Galley)? Or maybe order other things at Mama's. We really enjoy it at lunch although I don't think we've ever tried it for dinner.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Now, I'm more confused than ever :rotfl2: Just kidding.......

I'm not sure what we are going to do. We might try 50's Primetime & Sci-fi since it would be easier to stay inside DHS.

Or maybe we will skip a sit-down and just do Pizza Planet. We've never eaten at pizza planet. It can't be that bad, right?

I think the pizza is terrible there, but my DS makes it a point to eat there every trip! I think Cape May is fine, but there are still choices like Hollywood and
Vine, 50s Prime Time --especially if you don't mind being picked on, and the Captain's Galley.

H & Vine is a buffet. Have you considered it? We have it booked with the fantasmic package this year. We, too, ate at MM last year and it was eh at best. I like that H & vine is a buffet.

I would go with Prime Time. It is a fun atmosphere and we all like the pot roast. They have nice ice cream sundaes for dessert. Enjoy your stay.

WE LOVE SCI-FI... The menu is simple and the food is not fancy.... But it is good for what it is...And the atmosphere is really cool... It is worth going at least once... We like going every time we visit HS!

Pizza Planet pizza is kind of like Dominos... It is not bad but it is not nearly the best either.. If you are not picky about your pizza, it should be fine... But be prepared for the processed taste.

Thanks everyone for your responses! We are leaning towards Sci-Fi. I have less than 24 hours to make my ADR's! :cool1:
