Can you all help me? I don't have any dining planned for the first 24 hours of my trip to Disney, and I am looking for some recomendations.

I am flying to Orlando with my parents, and our flight does not arrive until 7:26 p.m. We are spending the first night at the Pop, and then checking into POR on the next day. We plan on spending that first day at the Animal Kingdom, and then maybe going on to MGM.

I am looking for a good sit down meal. It doesn't matter which one, but I know my folks will appreciate it if we have at least one sit down meal a day. And wherever we end up, there has to be some food that is not to spicey or garlicy. Mom has a very sensative stomach, and she sticks to pretty plain food.

I don't remember there being many dining options around the Animal Kingdom. I know the Rainforest Cafe is right there, but I don't think she would enjoy it at all. So I am ruling that out. Any ideas?:confused3

Are you on the Disney Dining Plan? When (approximately) are you going?

Other than the Rainforest Cafe, I don't think there are any traditional table service restaurants in AK. It's a short trip to the AK Lodge, though... which has Jiko and Boma. If the somewhat exotic menus there aren't to your parents' liking, then you should plan on eating at MGM. Hollywood & Vine is an American foods buffet. The Hollywood Brown Derby is a high-end gourmet restaurant. Mama Melrose's serves Italian food. One of those might be suitable.

Nope, not on the plan! And our vacation is mid-October. We fly down on a Saturday night, if that helps at all.

Seems like you may not get to your resort room until about 9pm. Not sure if you have a rental car or travelling via Disney's Magical Express. Also not sure if you are on the DDP.

I would you say you have a few options:

Eat at the airport before heading to Disney.

Since you are arriving a bit late, you may want to simply eat at the Pop Food Court. There are "real meals" available, not just sandwiches and burgers. It may be the most hassle free choice and not too heavy after travelling.

If you want to get to a Disney Table Service location, try to get a late seating at one of the Boardwalk area restaurants: Spoodles, Yacht club Gally or Cape May Cafe

If you have a car make a quick trip over to the Caribbean Beach resort and try Shutters. Its the closest resort Table service restaurant to Pop. You could also use a taxi to get to and from this location.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, due to the Disney Dining Plan, many table service restaurants get booked up months ahead of time. At this point, I would suggest picking some suitable restaurants and then calling for ADRs. You will have more success getting reservations at unusual times (very early or very late) or going for sit-down meals at lunch time rather than dinner. Probably the easiest reservations to get right now would be for late lunches -- 2-3 pm.

For non-adventurous eaters at MGM, I would suggest Hollywood & Vine. It's a buffet, so there should be a variety of suitable dishes.

Good luck,
David
