On our last trip to the Poly, my 4 yr old son couldn't reach the sink to brush his teeth. I wound up having him stand on a big pillow from the daybed.

Why don't they provide a little step stool for kids? Do any of you have a better solution?

I don't have a better solution but I'll share with you what we did. I gave my kids (ages 3 and 5) their toothbrushes and they brushed without being over the sink. When it came time for them to "rinse and spit", I lifted them up and let them do it. The 3 yr old needed the same thing at hand washing time. It wasn't a big deal and that way I could make sure they weren't hurrying too much.

Is there room on the counter for them to sit? I always sit my kids on the counter to wash hands, etc if they are too short to reach.

Don't get ooged out over this, but maybe they could use the bathtub faucet? The tub can be rinsed out before bath use? Or is this just too oogy? Were there any chairs, even balcony chairs that could be moved into the bathroom so that the child could stand on them?

We were out Saratoga the beginning of Dec. My 3 and 5 year olds couldn't reach the sink. I called Mousekeeping and asked for a stool, they said they didn't have any. When we came back that night there was a stool in our room! What a nice surprise! I don't know if it is different staying at a "home away from home" resort, but it may be worth a phone call.

My guess why they don't provide stools is due to the fact someone's child would fall off the stool and get hurt, and then bingo another lawsuit. Sad but true.
