DBF is cooking t-bones tomorrow for supper, and he's asked me to "season them"....wont give me any idea's on what to use because "just use what you like" is enough of an answer for him.

i dont want a marinade, I'd prefer a rub. I'm going to use a cap of vinigar 1st to tenderize it...but what sha'll I rub on them?

If I dont have the spice i can go get it in the morning...so no biggie there

Thanks
Brandy

Montreal steak seasoning is pretty good...You can get it in many brands, I believe. It's peppery.

I like Montrel Steak seasoning. It is already mixed up in a bottle. Not much thought there just rub on steaks. It is great. There Montrel chicken seasoning is really good too.

Can I ask a dumb question? Do you really "rub" it onto the meat? Or just sprinkle it?

depends on how well you know it :rotfl2:

we use just salt and pepper and Italian salad dressing. Soak it overnight and it makes a great one!

I like emeril's rustic rub. this is off the food tv website:

Rustic Rub:
8 tablespoons paprika
3 tablespoons cayenne
5 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
6 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons onion powder
6 tablespoons salt
2 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 1/2 tablespoons dried thyme

Combine all ingredients and store in an air-tight container. Yield: 2 1/4 cup

We have a jar of that and a jar of essence at all times.

I have never used vinegar to tenderize steak. Does it leave a vinegar taste? Do you rub the meat with the vinegar? The montreal steak seasoning is really good.

the steaks are about 1.5lbs each...I use a cap of vinegar, per steak...well, 1/2 a cap I guess on each side...I actually dump it in my hand and rub it before the seasoning.....once the steak is cooked, you dont taste it...actually after the rub is put on, you dont smell it either.
