Need a referral for the current promotion?

I have had a look through alot of this post and could not find the answer. I have booked to go on a tour when we are out in early December and have registered with Disney, does this mean that it is too late to use the referral. Also we are looking to purchase 200 point at SSR and was wondering what the latest incentive would end up being for this amount. Thanks for all you information on this site as it has been a great help to coming closer to a decision.

We didn't know about the referral program last year when we were looking to buy until after we'd already called DVC, been assigned a guide and received the package - but we hadn't actually bought yet - we were still "just looking". I didn't even stumble onto the referral thread - but rather had called the Timeshare Store and the guy I was talking to there mentioned the Friends & Family promotion! Actually, I may have found the DisBoards from them too. I honestly don't remember which way it went. Anyway, I told DH about it and then he said that he knew 2 people at his work that had bought in...so I called our guide and told him I'd heard about the referral program from one of them, provided DH's co-worker's name, address & phone and then we were eligible as soon as they verified his friend being a member! So yes, you can back into it.

To answer your other question about the incentive for purchasing 200 points, I believe for non-members there is a minimum purchase required of 225 points to receive any bonus points. I think with a purchase of 225 points you would receive 160 one-time use developer points - which is enough to use to "trade out" for a 1 bedroom unit thru their World Passport Collection.

Hi Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone for all the information and PM’s and to carol for he additional information. Not totally sure what we a going to do yet. We live over on the other side of the pond in the UK, which means that it is very tempting to join with the exchange rate for the dollar at the moment. At the moment thinking that we will only get 200 points as this seems to work out best for us with all types of trips as it is likely to be a long holiday on a less regular basis when we visit the mouse. Though the developer points are a nice thought it would mean that we have to come over next year to use them and the year after to potentially use the banked points we lose them. I can hear the cries already of weres the problem with that. I will keep you informed on the outcome and thanks again.

The added incentive is offered if you've been referred by a current DVC member AND buy 225 points or more. So if you're willing to up your purchase by 65 points, you would be eligible.

The "free trip" comes in the form of a one-time bonus of 160 additional points. You can really use them for any destination--it's not limited to just World Passport destinations.

Assuming you don't want to spend another $6000+ by adding 65 more points to your purchase, the $8 per point discount is the best deal out there right now. Although if you are a Chase Disney Visa cardholder and put the down payment on your visa, you qualify for a $500 bonus from Chase. That offer ends on 11/30.
