My 7 year old dishwasher died. It has been repaired at least 6 times since we got it, and it really never cleaned well after the last repair. Now it is just dead, no lights... nothing. I refuse to spend any more money on it.

This one is a Kitchenaid, my last was a Bosch. I had no luck with either.

Do you have a dishwasher you love that has been trouble free???

Dunno what to tell you but Bosch. Maybe you just got a wonky one?

Past that, the best I know of is Miele.

The Bosch I had was older, came with the house. It broke down a few times. The biggest problems were that it had to be removed and turned over to be worked on, and I once had a part take 3 weeks to come in.

I am going to go to a local appliance shop see what they are recommending....

We had horrible luck with a Maytag and replaced it with a Bosch after reading tons of good reviews here on the DIS budget boards. We have been very happy with our Bosch and I am going to miss it when we move next week. Our new house has a Whirlpool I think - I can't remember. :confused3
I reminded DH that when we do dishes in the new house we have to start being careful about where we put the plastic stuff again - I've gotten spoiled with the Bosch.

I dont have a recommendation, other than what NOT to buy--that would be a Maytag. We've had ours for about 4 years(?) and it is absolutely horrible, a piece of junk!

I've had a whirlpool that's been going strong for16 years. Its never had a single repair and is just starting to show its age lately.

*knock on wood* my Whirlpool is working pretty well. I have no complaints and it does a good job. I am sure if Whirlpool is a top tier brand, but mine has been good so far. I have had it since like Feb. It was a closeout for about 500, marked down from 600 something.

We have a Kitchen Aid that is approximately 18 years old, and it isn't working well anymore. Our new Bosch should be here tomorrow, and I hope it lasts half as long. We didn't know what to get either; went with Bosch becuse MIL loves hers.

Our Whirlpoool is AWFUL. It's 5 years old and I can't wait for it to die. Both racks are falling apart. The bottom rack flakes rust so bad that there are always rust flakes on the bottom of the tub that won't wash away. Sometimes the detergent door opens, sometimes it doesn't. The dishes come out spotty and cloudy no matter what detergent or softener I use. :sad2: Our builder grade Hotpoint was much better.

I have learned a very valuable lesson...the next dishwasher (very soon) will be stainless inside.

I have posted before about how I bought my Bosch over 15 years ago from a local small appliance store. It was a floor model they were changing out so I got a great deal. So I would ask if when they change out their displays if you go with a local dealer. Who knows you might get lucky. I have never ever had a problem with my Bosch. About a year ago it was making a horrible noise, but I was actually hoping it was dying bc I wanted to get a stainless one to go with a new fridge. Unfortunately the repairman came, opened the door, took out the drain thingy in the bottom of the dw looked in and pulled out a piece from a broken dish I dropped when loading it in. So it was my fault, and this machine just won't die!!!! Love this machine.

I have had many dishwashers over the years and have not liked any of them. However, we built a home a year ago and picked a Kenmore ultra wash that I absolutely love! It was not the most expensive model, but has a steel interior and it cleans beautifully.

I have one for 40 plus years but has been acting up lately. Washes ok but she demands I do the drying.

I just bought a new Maytag a few weeks ago and I love it. It is stainless steel inside. It gets the dishes spotless and I dont pre-rinse before i put the dishes in. I love the silverware basket,it has tiny little slots that hold each piece without them touching. Also is is made in America which I love:thumbsup2

I was going to suggest Bosch. I had one that we put into our old house and I loved it. Have a Maytag now (older) and hate it. I would also never purchase another GE.
