Can anyone post a link as to where there is a list of Verizon cell phones, older ones I suppose, that do not require that crappy a** data plan with them?
technically there is no list I was told that you need to ask the rep what phones do not need the Data plan since the list is ever changing we have the Samsung Cosmo which we love and it is a NON DATA PLAN MODEL
About a month ago, I purchased the Pantech Jest -- you can only buy it on Verizon online. If you want to actually hold a Pantech, AT&T has some of them (but not the Jest). It will give you a feel for the phone. It looks a bit like a Blackberry and I have come to love it. It has a camera & takes video. It has a nice big screen. Check it out.
If you go onto verizonwireless.com and look at the phones, you can see them divided into categories and one of them is the phones that don't require the data plan. My dd just got the Pantech Jest also. She likes it but she keeps pocket-dialing people because it unlocks easily. There were quite a few to choose from, more than at the beginning of the year when my ds got his new phone.

Just bought the Samsung Intensity 2 online. No data plan required. There are about 5 phones that dont require it. I went to the Verizon store to check them out then came home and ordered on line-free on line, with free next day delivery! The Verizion guy said bring the new phone to them when I get it and they would transfer all my stuff over.
I know there was an LG Cosmo that was no data plan too. Dont remember any of the others.

That. They have a group with the smart phones that require the $30 data plan, a group that requires the $15 data plan, and the ones that don't require any extra plan.
DH & I just upgraded from the mid-level phones to smart phones, and despite the jump in data plan prices, our bill is still $30 less/month. Clearly, I should have moved to a smartphone sooner.
