Need a good seamstress for alterations in South Jersey

Can anyone recommend a good seamstress in the SJ/PA/DE area? DD8 is going to be in my brother's wedding in Jan '11 as a junior bridesmaid. Due to the insanely small sizes the salon makes their dresses in, I had to order her a woman's size 10! So a lot will need to be cut from the bottom, etc. The bridal salon is over an hour away from me, and their seamstress doesn't work on weekends, and now I'm on my own to get this done. I'm hoping there will be a DISer out there who can help recommend someone really good for me. Any thoughts?

We have used a woman who has a seamstress/tailoring business in the Neshaminy Mall, Bensalem, PA for all of my daughter's prom gowns. She has produced all wonderful dresses in a quick turnaround. We have had gowns shortened, taken in, redesigned, etc. I would highly recommend her. If you think it is not too far, I will provide you with further details.

I've passed by a seamtress that works out of her house in Mt. Laurel NJ. Its on Church Road sort of near the Marcia Hyland dance studio but before Springdale Road on the right hand side.


I've heard great things about her but I've never used her.

Manelli's on Route 70 in Cherry Hill - Patricia is great - although she might be a little bit more than other seamstresses she's great!

I would highly recommend a place in Mt. Laurel on Church Rd- Fashion Stitch. She does excellent work and I've had several BM gowns altered there.

Her name is Kay. She did a great job altering a bridesmaid dress for my SIL who was 13 at the time(she had an adult dress). My sister bought a white bridesmaid dress for her own wedding and had Kay add lots of details to it. It turned out beautiful!

Do you have a bridal salon in your town? Many of them will do alterations for articles purchased from other salons.

Also, if you have a fabric and/or quilt store in your town check with them (not a Joann Fabrics, but a local non-franchise store). Many of the people who work in the store do alterations or they will know someone who will do alterations for not too much money.
