I need one for my gd who is walking now :thumbsup2 :lovestruc I have been to all the stores, Target, Walmart, Toys r Us and online and cant find a good one. I need wall mounted for hall, it has no door jam there and it has molding so I need one I can mount. Plus it is a VERY busy spot so we need to open and close the thing 100 times a day. Anyone have one they like that'll fit the bill???? TIA

You can't use the pressure release kind?
I have two of those that I use for the dogs and really like them. Don't have to screw any holes anywhere.

no, it has to be opened and closed sooo much, unless it had a door to it, but even so I can't find one that had the bottom pressure thngy high enough to be above the molding.

Kidco gates. They are vertical-bar only with no toe-holds that can be climbed, and they install permanently. They have a one-hand latch that is easy for older kids to open; my 11 yo has no difficulty with the ones on our staircases. Also, the top and bottom width to the mount is independently adjustable, so if you have high baseboards you can compensate for them for safe installation.

:thumbsup2 Beat me to it! I love them. Easy to open (truly toddler proof & adult (big kid) friendly.

We have the pressure release one for the doggie in a high-traffic area. We just put it above the molding. It's only a few inches? :confused3

The problem with that for a human child is that you should not place the gate's lower edge more than 3 inches from the floor. Any higher and a baby that tried to crawl under might get her head caught.

Or am I totally disillusioned here? http://www.amazon.com/First-Years-H...ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1226598144&sr=8-2

This is what we have at the entrance to our kitchen. I actually had a 2x4 cut to the right height and propped that up against the molding. It allowed the bottome to have a flat surface to push against and the top is screwed as close to the wall as I could get it. I did that because even with the two extensions to the gate it was just a hair too small for the opening. The 2x4's make it fit and it's as tight as can be. DS is 19 months and can't open it. He can hop on the foot peddle with all 30lbs of him and it doesn't budge.

I use this gate in my daycare and love it. I did get the extension kit as our doorway is wider. I do not understand why you put it above the molding. We have ours on molding and we used the wrench device to adjust each side as needed.
