I already borrowed all I can. I just need 8 points or so to book the trip. I've heard you can rent from another member and transfer or buy a small amount from Disney. Can someone explain those options or let me know if there's something else I should do?
Thanks!

You can attempt to get another member to transfer the needed points, see Rent/Trade board on this site, but that might not be easy to do. Also, if you are intending to book 11 months out, they need to be for the same resort and in a use year that begins before time of scheduled trip.

You can buy up to 24 one time use year points from Disney when reserving but that can only be done when reserving 7 months out or less.

Third option is to rent part of the trip from another member who makes a reservation using his points for a night in your name and then you link the reservation you make with your own points for the other nights with that one. Those who are renting on the rent/trade board may prefer that option because such a rental is not subject to the restriction that it can only be done once per year use as a transfer of points is.

I've been in this situation twice. I just "buy" the extra points from Disney. They are $15 each, so $120 for you. When you call to make your reservation just tell them you'll need to buy the one time use points to complete your reservation. They ask for payment then & it's really a simple process. I find it easier then renting from a member or doing a transfer.

As PPs have stated, this option is probably the easiest if you are not trying to book more than 7 months out.

thanks everyone!

the trip is for October, so I'm going to call today to make the reservation and buy the points. 3 nights at Disney already booked, just wanted to add 2 at Vero!

As long as you are out of current UY points, and within 7 months, its simple. MS will bring someone else on the line who will confirm what you are doing. You make a payment, the points are in your account then and there. The third member leaves the call then MS finishes the ressie
