Last year, DH and I gave our teen DSs Broadway tickets to Lion King. I wrote a corney little poem and placed it in a travel guide to NYC on the page that had a Lion King sign.

Well, this year, their HS band began their halftime show with the theme song to Phantom of the Opera. (gives me goose bumps everytime!) As a Christmas gift this year, DH and I got them broadway tickets to Phantom of the Opera for the Wednesday after Christmas. It will be a blast. Of course, DH and I got ourselves a ticket too. :teeth:

Anyway-I was trying to come up with a creative way to give the tickets. They are in 10th and 11th grade, so it can be a more mature idea/theme. I thought about burning the song the band played onto a CD and just letting them play it to find out what the gift is. Not too exciting though.

Any other ideas??

Thanks in advance,
Karen

Go to the craft store, pick up a half mask. Go to a thrift store and pick up a cheapie black cape. wrap each item seperately, have them unwrap one at a time to figure out what it is. of course you could hand them the musical score, or the video of the Phantom... there are a millon ways.

Don't they have cards that you can record a bit and that will play when you open them? I would do that and record the first few notes of the Phantom.... THat would be very cool.
Have fun. I LOVE Phantom!!

haha

when i studied Sound of Music in voice for presentation pieces she took me to see it.

She wraped the video, soundtrack, and a picture of me singing "a few of my favorite things" with the tickets...it was soooo funny

so if you can...get the song..or whole cd of phantom of the opera

the movie (if you can)

and a picture of your boys playing their instruments and wrap it with the tickets!

I'm only a few years older than them, so I can remember what I thought was cool at that age... Let's see, I think I would do a scavenger hunt of some kind. Like for their first present wrap up a present that involves Phantom along with a clue/message where the next present and clue can be found and at the very end have the tickets waiting. I would have loved that!!

I like the mask/cape idea. Of course - before you give them the next clue, make sure you take pictures! The best clue, though could be the Phantom DVD. I've seen the play 2 times, and still love the DVD.
