Need a couple of dinner suggestions

In a few weeks, I will be making our ADRs for our July trip. We will be staying for 10 nights. I need 2 more dinner restaurants. So far we have Kouzzina, Ohana, California Grill, Biergarten, 50s Prime Time, Garden Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and one evening we will just grab a snack in the World Showcase because it is the same day we have afternoon tea at Garden View Lounge.

I need 2 more dinner restaurants...one for a Sea World day, so it must be in a resort or DTD. The other for an MK day (already going to Crystal Palace for breakfast that morning). One dinner is for 2 adults and 2 boys, ages 5 and 7. We are staying at Boardwalk Villas. The other is for the same 4 people, plus 2 adults age 62, 2 adults age 37, and 2 girls ages 8 and 11. They are staying at the Dolphin. No princesses, the kids specified! And no more signatures, we only want to do the 2 we have already. None of us are going to be on any dining plans, and we all will have cars with us. Thanks!

It seems to me that it might be nice to add in a couple of more low-key spots--burgers/pizza joints without quite as much atmosphere. The Plaza in MK is nice for that.

I was actually considering Plaza for lunch for the 4 of us on our other MK day (not the same day a CP breakfast!). Doing it for dinner though, might be a better idea if we all go back to MK in the evening. Very reasonably priced, right down Main Street and not too much craziness. I will have to mention this to my sister.

For lunch at Magic Kingdom...my family really enjoy Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch. Eating around the Boardwalk...there is Captain's Grill, ESPN, Cape May Cafe or Beaches and Cream.

How is ESPN? I never really consider it for our trips because it seems like it would be like any other chain restaurant. But if it is really good, we would give it a try. We were originally thinking Big River Grille, but it got a lot of negative reviews. I know that if I search enough I can find negative reviews on our favorite restaurants too, but this one really had a lot more than I usually find.

DH and I took the boys to Captain's Grill on our last trip. It wasn't bad, just decided we wouldn't return again on this trip...would rather try a different place. We attempted Cape May last time for dinner, but DS6's shellfish allergy got to him as soon as we walked in...he is fine if we eat shellfish around him, but they were steaming the crab legs out in the open, and it hit him as soon as we walked in. Not a severe reaction but we left right away and then he was fine...and management handled it wonderful, offered to call in an Alpha unit, stayed with us in the lobby to make sure he was OK (he was fine once we walked out), and arranged a new ADR for us at Kouzzina.

Beaches and Cream would be great to try, but wouldn't they have a very long wait? I know they don't take ADRs because it's such a small place. Maybe for the 4 of us on the one day we're not sure about dinner. But the MK day, it will be 10 of us so I don't think we should attempt Beaches and Cream for that day.

I also mentioned Boma to my sister...it's been a few years since DH and I were there. We loved it but had heartburn that night from all the unusual spices. However, we would go back at this point and just try and take it easy on ourselves. We really stuffed ourselves silly on all that delicious food last time we were there, and all the desserts DH and I ate had alcohol in them, which probably didn't help the heartburn factor either. ;)

I was also thinking about Sanaa, because we don't have it planned in our itinerary yet and we really enjoyed it last time. But then, I keep thinking we should try a restaurant we haven't been to yet...as usual I am very indecisive with this!

Although ESPN might be like applebees the sports theme and stuff could be cool for the kids. Its also at your resort so you wouldn't have to go anywhere after being at sea world. For your group of 10 you could catch a boat to wilderness lodge for whispering canyon cafe. With that amount of people the antics would be great!

For the Sea World day, you could try something not on Disney properties unless you just need to use a meal ticket. We went to Medieval Times when my sister was around 9 and she had a blast. I think there are a few similar places with the same theme as well- I vaguely remember us debating between there and somewhere that had pirates.

If you want to stay on property, I would try Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge. It is very good and the kids will have a blast acting up!

For the Magic Kingdom Day, I would recommend Liberty Tavern or taking the monorail to the Polynesian and doing Ohana. You could also take the boat to Wilderness Lodge and do Whispering Canyon this day to.

DH and I took the boys to Whispering Canyon last year, and it was fun at first but we found it to be very repetitive after a little while. The food was OK, but nothing spectacular. We don't want to return. We liked the antics much better at 50s Prime Time, and the rest of the family wants to go there too (especially since my parents were born in 1950), so all 10 of us are going there.

I was thinking that Ohana might be nice to save for a dinner when all 10 of us are there together, instead of just the 4 of us before everyone else arrives at WDW. I'm all for that, as long as it's OK with everyone else. But, I also have read many times that it is very difficult to get an ADR at Ohana, so for a large party wouldn't it be even harder to get?

We really prefer to stay on property for dinner, even though we will be going to Sea World one day. We love the Disney restaurants, and we don't have them at home. No dining plan to worry about though...so we could always go to the Swan/Dolphin restaurants or DTD. We will, however, have the Tables in Wonderland card.

A second for the Plaza for dinner. Eat all you can at CP (or make it a little later?--9:30/10), take a couple rolls (if you can), eat dole whip, a rice krispie treat/ice cream treat, popcorn for the parade and you could also make an early dinner reservation. It is reasonably quiet in there because it is so small. The food comes fast. It's all sandwiches, but I've had the reuben (everywhere I go) and I think theirs is good. Burgers are good too.

If you order from the kids menu, you will get the biggest grapes you've ever seen and everyone from the table will be able to try them. It's too many.

Good bang for the buck!

I'm stumped on your low-key dinner. We like the CS at the Poly, then you could go all the way around on the monorail on your SeaWorld day just to feel a little WDW love.

The sit-down at SSR is nice and I've heard good things about Olivia's at OKW. If you want to get a look at the other DVC resorts, those are ideas too.

You could also go pick-up or buy frozen pizzas and just eat in the villa. That's always nice too. Then the group could just watch a movie or swim or do something at Community Hall.

Or not.

Liberty Tree Tavern for your MK day would be nice. They have some great light selections if you are still feeling a lil stuffed from your bfast.

At DTD we enjoy Rainforest or T-rex simply b/c their menu is so large that it usually accommodates anyone's taste in our large family.

Usually when we go to a character breakfast at a theme park (8am so we can make rope drop), we are not very hungry for a big meal until dinner. So, we do like you said, grab a Dole Whip, or a Mickey bar, maybe share a little something from Main St. Bakery when we take our afternoon break (love bringing the cinnamon rolls back to the villa!), then by dinner we are hungry again, and we can enjoy without feeling stuffed.

No frozen pizzas here...no dinner in the villa either. We like to go out to eat on vacation, even though we have the kitchen in the 1-bedroom. We eat breakfast in the villa most mornings, but that's as much "cooking" as I will do on vacation! Even though I do the laundry...it is just so convenient and so nice not to have to do tons of laundry when we get home!

Anyway, Plaza sounds like a good idea still! Simple, low-key, yet nice.

Doesn't Liberty Tree have a price-fixed family-style dinner? I thought their lighter selections were on the lunch menu.

T-Rex is a possibility for our Sea World day...thanks for mentioning it!
