Any suggestions/pics? It will be just me and dd so I will need to keep it with me on the rides.I have waistpacks(fannypacks)that I normally wear in amusement parks but guess they are outdated and I am in dire need of finding something that is just as practical but more in style nowadays. Thanks:)

You can get those single strap compact backpacks. Try "single strap backpack" under google images. I've been looking for something for years, but being a guy, anything that has a single strap and can be carried over your shoulder is basically a 'murse', and I just can't bring myself to do it.

I read on another thread about the Baggallini messenger bag. It sounds great. I'm looking into getting one for our trip in Apr. 09. I'd post the link, but I'm not allowed to yet, because I don't have 10 posts yet. :rotfl:

My husband and I have a strict 'no fanny pack' rule that we adhere to.

That being said, we carry a backpack. We don't overload it, but it allows us to carry some necessities for the both of us (ponchos, chapstick, a snack and a water). The best part? It's 'gender neutral'. DH would never carry one of those one strap jobbies. The bagallini thing looks comfortable, but I have to take something that DH is willing to carry or I'll be carrying it the whole time.

I bought a little black "leather" backpack at Walmart several years ago. We have used it now for three WDW vacations and love it! It came with a very, small compact umbrella as well. My DH and I take turns carrying it. It is just enough room for the umbrella, a water bottle, the camera, and I roll up our windbreaker jackets real tight and can fit them in there. It also has a smaller front zip pocket for small items. It is easy to take with on rides and both myself and DH take turns carrying it - it is gender neutral.

I just got a lime green bagalini messenger. I think it will be great. Hopefully we can spot some other disers with lime green gear!

I also bought the baggellini messanger bag to take on my Nov. trip, i'll let you know how it goes!

Vera Bradley backpack. It is big enough for AK day when we all need our flip flops and ponchos and light enough for me to carry. Plus very pretty which is a necessity.

I bought the Bagallini 2 years ago after everyone raved about it on these boards. I used it for 1/2 a day in the parks and did not like it. It was too small for me. Last year I bought the Overland Donner bag (also recommened on these bags) and loved it. It is the perfect size for taking everything into the parks and it is not too big to take on the rides. I love it! Here's a link to what it looks like: http://www.ebags.com/overland_equip...ED&color=Laurel/Sky/Silver&CAWELAID=145695351

I just bought one at our local AAA store. It was the cheapest that I could find. I got the uptown bag. www.baggallini.com

I love this bag does anyone know if it has a magnetic closure I read on one site it does and will that effect cc or kttw cards also if anyone already has this bag and has used it at the parks and went on rides with it can you please let me know if you liked it and if it was easy to take on the rides/comfortably.thanks!

I got caught up in the whole Baggalini messenger thing on the boards. I bought one, my mom bought one, and I bought a smaller one for my daughter. HATED THEM. None of us used them after the first day. My problem was I thought it was too big, it was uncomfortable to wear, and my biggest complaint -- the buckle on it weighs about 3 pounds by itself. I ended up using a fanny pack all week. Yes, I know, every unfashionable, and especially on a Pooh-sized person, but it really was the best choice for me.

I wouldn't nix the fanny pack just for fashion's sake. There are so many people who wear them in the parks that you won't feel out of place. That being said, I have to carry something larger than a fanny pack because I often carry extra items for my kids. I have the Baggalini messenger and I think it is a good size (not too big, not too small). However, although I find it very comfortable to wear, I do find it a nuisance when I want to get something out of it such as my wallet, etc., since you have to either take it off or slide it forward to access the bag.

I used the overland placer. It's about the size of a fanny pack, but it's worn across your body or over your shoulder. One great thing about it is all the great little pockets. I wore it on all the rides without any problem! :thumbsup2

I used a fanny pack, but instead of around my waist, i slung it across my chest, commando style! :):dance3:

If you're looking for something fashionable and more light to carry, I would recommend Travelon. QVC carries a wide selection of their travel bags. I've used them in the past, and they're great!

Invest in a Mountainsmith Lumbar Day Pack with Strapettes. It is small like a fanny pack, will hold EVERTHING you carry into the park, and the weight is distributed to your shoulders. To give you an idea of what the bag can handle, here is what I carry with me into the parks:

Digital Camera w/ extra batteries
DVD Video Camera w/ extra DVD's, battery etc
2 ponchos
small first aid kit w/ ibuprofen, bandaids, etc.
two 24oz bottles of water
lightweight tripod for camcorder
small bottle of hand sanitizer
Paktowel
small sealable wet wipes

I suffer with back problems, and this pack is the only one I have ever used that doesn't kill my back. Plus, you don't have to take it off at most attractions, just sit forward.
Hope this helps!!
