DH and I going on a long relaxing weekend getaway. :lovestruc I never get to read. So, I want to read. I am looking for suggestions for a PAPERback book, don't want to spend lots of $ on a book. I am looking for a light hearted fiction book. I went to Barnes & Nobles tonight and didn't buy anything.

Here my thoughts....I picked up The Devil Wears Prada....I was thinking I didn't know that was a book, but I would have read it if I hadn't seen the movie. I also picked up something about Always a Bridesmaid....made me think of 27 Dresses which I have seen.

I don't want a total Romance or Suspense. I would like a bit of romance, comedy and a feel good, tell it like it is book, easy reading.

Any suggestions??? Again, I only want to buy a Paperback.

And, no I am not going to the library....I have a germ phobia there...Long story!! LOL!!

Thanks!:goodvibes

Lol, I think I'm banned from the library. I have a book I still have not returned (bad, I know) from about 6 years ago.. And they stopped sending me things in the mail, but if I go check out a book and use my card, they'll know I owe own.. AH!! :sad2:

Have you read Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series?
I think they fit your description pretty good and I breezed right thru them and couldn't wait to get to the next book.

I actually did that, :rolleyes1 I owed for a book for about 2 years, I decided I should just go and pay up.....I was ready to pay some crazy amount and she said it was amnesty month! Can you believe that?!?!?!? I was astonished, but very happy!:lmao:

I was just going to suggest that. I just listened to Plum Loving and I can hardly wait to download another one.

I can get so much done around the house listening to books instead of reading. For the first time in years I am always pretty much caught up on laundry and dishes and cleaning.....:cool1:

I can download them from my library for free :goodvibes

Thanks I will check out Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well!!! :)

Janet Evanovich' also has a series with Charolatte Hughes the" Full" series I think they read a little quicker than the plum books. 1st one is Full house. Devil wears Prada is a great book.

Another vote for Janet Evanovich! She's one of my favorite's! Love the Stephanie Plum series!!! You will not be disappointed!

Ok - this is going to be a little less light-hearted than books you've mentioned, but I L-O-V-E Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series!!! It's part history, part romance, part comedy, part "real"... Its hard to describe, but it is incredibly well written and an easy read.

Something Borrowed, Something Blue and Baby Proof, all by Emily Giffin. They are fun light reads. I picked Something Borrowed in the airport last trip to WDW actually...we had a four hour delay! I'm a big reader so by the time our 3 day trip was over I bought Something Blue and Baby Proof at the Orlando Airport on the way home!

Stephanie Plum books are the best! One for the Money is the first and I laugh out loud every time I read them! Am also a big fan of Sue Grafton books...start with A is for Alibi. Also make me chuckle while reading.

I liked the 1st book I just can not get through the 2nd one. And I can't call them an easy read, I thought they are kinda intense. But boy can she describe her charaters you just can picture them.

I love Sue Grafton also. After you read several she becomes and old friend. You get to know her and the other characters so well.

The second book was harder, but the rest I couldn't keep my hands off of them! I actually have two sets - one that I loan out or take with me when I go places (trips, etc.), and the other (hardback) set that I have at home & only read when I know I won't mess it up. :) Am I insane or what?!?

A really light-hearted book that's a fun read is Adriana Trigiani's Rococco. It's about an Italian decorator and his family in New Jersey and it's on my must recommend to everyone list. It's also great on CD.

My favorite author of late is Jennifer Weiner. I'm reading Little Earthquakes right now & love it. I've read In Her Shoes (awesome!) and Good In Bed (also awesome!). She's a very easy read, with some romance, tension, etc.

Another book I LOVED was Expecting Adam by Martha Beck. A little emotionally heavier read (it's her true story) but I could NOT put the book down!

The Shopaholic Books by Sophie Kinsella was a great series. She also has one out called The Undomestic Goddess which was a fun read.

I also LOVE Janet Evanovich!!!! I read in the car on road trips and Dh is also asking why I'm LOL at my book. :rolleyes1

I don't normally read books that are movies but this book was awesome...

PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern
I picked up the book around Dec. at Borders for less than 8 bucks. It had a few sad parts but mostly it was just an awesome book. A little Chick Lit but with some good substance. I could not put it down.

I also second the Emily Griffen books...I think you relate best to those if you are young and recently had a baby.

If you enjoy a mystery with a chick lit edge I recommend any Kate White book. I think she has a few in paperback.

Also if you enjoy Danielle Steel I think her book Sisters which was great just came out in paperback

And my last recommendation would be Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner ...I love all of her books!!

I will recommend the books by Jasper Fforde. They are all very creative. I am into the Thursday Next series which starts with the Eyre Affair.

For an affordable way to get new paperbacks check out paperbackswap.com

We have swapped alot of books there. Great way to put your old already read but in good condition books to use for you.

The Devil Wears Prada book is much better than the movie. Lots more characters, more plotlines, more explanation of things.

The Shopaholic books are GREAT vacation reading. Also, I love to read Bridget Jones' Diary.
