I just reserved a condo (Blue Heron Resort) at $89 per night for 7 nights...plus tax, and resort fees and cleaning fees, it comes to $836 a night.

I just came across alpharooms.com today. They have the same room for $551 (including taxes so the website says). Now assuming I get hit with the resort fees and cleaning fees anyway when I get there, it still takes me only to $690 bucks.

What am I missing here? I looked around yesterday and the VRBO deal looked the best, but the alpharooms deal looks too good to be true. I could even get a 2 BR condo at the same resort for $651...

if you are renting from the resort - either would be fine.

but if you are renting from an owner - beaware that about half of this resort is in foreclose.

make sure your unit is not.

Ok now I've got a brand new worry. :)

The owner said it was going through the resort management group (Festiva)...does that protect me from any potential foreclosure issues?

don't think so - you can ask the management group.

but if he loses the property and the bank takes it - all previous contracts (like yours) will be cancelled.
