We have 5 children going to WDW with just us 2 adults. Our AAA agent said we need to book 2 connecting rooms using the single occupancy rate (a big increase) or else do a 2-bedroom HAH. Mousesavers said that the "room cost is the same for 1 adult or 2". Does anyone know for sure? How can we avoid this besides HAH? Are the AP discounts usually valid for the 2 bedroom villas in Old Key West in July? Is the "rack rate" that you use to compare the savings from an AP based on double occupancy only? Help!

Please read the long, detailed e-mail I sent in response to your e-mail to me about this question.

The long and short of it is, AAA is trying to sell you a package, and you don't want a package. Room-only rates are a flat fee for either 1 or 2 adults in the room. Package rates are per person.

With 7 people in your party (regardless of ages), you would be far more comfortable in a suite-type hotel or condo. There are plenty of places in the area that offer 2 or 3 bedroom accomodations. You may also want to look at renting a house. There are homes from 3-6 bedrooms that rent for about the same nitely rate as a Disney moderate hotel.

You could do 2 connecting rooms, but you still won't have a refrigerator or kitchen. You'd have a lot more space for the kids to play and for the 2 adults to relax if you do a house or condo.

We have four children. We are forced to get two rooms at WDW (except WL). We chose HIFS so we can have a suite. They sleep 6 or 7.
