Okay, I am tired of the "Yuck, do we have to eat that?" at dinnertime fight with DDs 7 and 8.

So I am thinking of coming up with 10 meals for over two weeks that kids like AND are healthy. Then we would let the kids plan out when to have what meals over 2 weeks. The other 4 meals would be the typical "I don't feel like cooking so lets order pizza" or the left over meals or drive through or whatever....

What suggestions do you have?

My ideas were:

Spaghetti and vegies
Toasted cheese sandwiches with tomato soup
Homemade Pizza (DH makes an awesome crust)
Chicken with rice and vegies
Hamburgers

I didn't pick Mac and Cheese or Hot Dogs or Chicken nuggets because I am sick of them having these and these can serve as emergencies!!!!

Thanks guys!!!!

My DS is 7 and some of his favorites are:

Taco night
Steak with mashed potatoes and veggies
Bangers and mash - (sausage and mashed potatoes)
Breakfast night.....pancakes are usually his choice
pork chops with white rice and corn
spaghetti and meatballs
Oven Fry chicken with couscous and green beans

My kids loved scalloped potatoes with ham... they liked that!

I also made a roasted squash and carrot soup that they both ate up!

My kids also love piggies in the blanket but i do that sparingly.

We are really big soup eaters, chili, beef stew, loaded potato, bean. Add a salad and a bread or crackers and you have a child friendly meal you can make ahead and reheat or cook all day in a slow cooker. We also like things like a turkey breast cooked in the crockpot, and then turkey with noodles the next day, a pot roast and then beef and noodles or beef stew the next day, can you tell I like to cook ahead and then just reheat????

Taco Salad is always a winner here, because there is some discretion with what they put on it. We also like Tamale Pie. Oh, and Chicken Pot Pie. I use alot of leftover kind of things with all three of these. Good luck. Can't wait to see what others have to say. We have the same problem here...tonight!

My kids like Character pasta (the bags from the parks) with white sauce (from a jar) and the Italian Chicken already cooked form Tyson. Really easy and fun. Of course you'll have to shop at Disney for the pasta but you gotta do what you gotta do! Come to think it my supply has about run out, guess I better make a ressie!;) ::yes::

My kids love pork cutlets baked I usually do with scalloped potatoes, meatballs with egg noodles and brown gravy, macaroni and brocolli and potatoe and eggs. Tonight its fish sticks potatoes and grean beans

I second the TACO idea! We have a Mexican theme dinner once every 3 weeks. This consists of Tacoscreate your own), fajitas and quesadillas(very easy to make)!

Tator Tot Casserole
Taco Casserole
Baked Spaghetti

:)

My DD loves Taco night because I put out the "fixins" and everyone can make them the way they like them. (And to make it less fattening, I use ground turkey, and she doesn't even know it!)

J.C. loves Taco Salads minus the lettuce  You can buy the taco shells, then fix taco meat, cheese and salsa....of course we eat lettuce and tomatos in ours too but I think he could eat those every night.

He also loves Salisbury Steak and Mashed Potatoes with either peas or carrots.

Hummm Spaghetti is always okay, lasagna or homemade Pizza he likes.

He loves baked chicken with a baked potato.

My kids love cheesey potato soup, quickie pizzas, goulash, and chicken enchiladas.

The enchilades are simple.....chop up chicken breasts and fry, mix in your favorite cheese or cheeses ( I use the fiesta blend from WalMart) and some pic sauce. Pour pic sauce in the bottom of a 13x9" pan and then spoon some of the chicken mixture onto a tortilla and roll up and place in the pan. Then top it off with a lil pic sauce and cheese and pop in a medium oven for about 20-25 minutes.

For the quickie pizzas we use whatever we have handy for the crust.....Italian or french bread, tortilla shells, flat bread.....The kids each build their own pizza with the toppings of their choice.

Is it ok to offer up my favorite White Trash dinner?
Easy Mac with hot dogs cut up in it. Frozen/ canned veggies on the side.

BTW, if you haven't looked lately, Kraft has some new cool flavors of EasyMac, including White Cheddar, Tombstone Cheese PizzaTM and Extreme Cheddar. :teeth:

My kids love Taco Pie - refrigerated pie crust, thin layer of refried beans, seasoned taco meat (lean ground turkey or beef), shredded cheese - baked in a 350 degree oven for about 20 mins

They also love my Meat Loaf Cupcakes - mini meat loafs baked in muffin cups during the last 15 mins of baking top with mashed potatoes. Looks just like a frosted cupcake. Drizzle with gravy and serve with your fav veggie.

My kids love pasta, so I can usually get away with anything that has pasta as part of the meal. And sauces are a great place to "hide" veggies (pureed into the sauce). Another idea is potpie. My two picky eaters who will eat only corn or peas will eat any vegetable in the known world if it is in a pot pie. And a big favorite in this house is red beans and rice. You don't have to make thses from scratch either! If your grocery store carries Blue Runner beans, just use the New Orleans style beans, heat, add sausage and spices and serve over rice! Easy and yummy!
