We are looking to use our points for a 2-bed villa at SSR next April, which is Dream season. We are currently short 68 points which is the exact amount needed for a Friday or Saturday night.

Therefore, we have the option of either moving out for the night or making a cash ressie for 1 night (if MS will let us do that).

So, assuming that it is possible to book a 2-week stay with 1 night being paid for in cash (it would be great if someone could confirm if it can even be done), what sort of price am I looking at for 1 night in a 2-bed at SSR?

It will be 20% off rack I think. I've never actually done the discount other than once 10 years ago.

Thanks Dian - I was actually wondering how much the rack rate would be so I can budget just in case we can't get a discounted room. Do you happen to know whether we are even guaranteed to be able to pay for 1 night in cash?

You should be able to check the rack rate on dinseyworld.com

I currently am waitlisted for 2 2 2br nights for cash for our stay because there was no point inventory room available for the last two nights of our stay in November. At first, I was able to book a 2 br at rack rate for about $650 per night. I called back and a member discount room was available for the 2 nights at about $480 per night. ( I can't remember the exact numbers right now). I am still waitlisted and hopefully will get the 2 rooms by Nov with points and cancel the 2 cash nights. (they can be cancelled up to 6 days in advance for full refund).

You could also rent points for the room probably $10 to $13 a point or so.....................

Thanks Mickey - that's what I'm trying to work out. We have some friends who may be renting out their points next year and I'm trying to figure out whether I would be better off paying the cash rate (on the basis that we 'may' get a discounted rate) or rent the points we need (68 points @ $11ish per point = $748.

DVC seasons are not the same as Disney Cash seasons.

According to the rack rate chart here on wdwinfo a 2 bedroom at SSR prior to April 15 will be $515 ($386.25 after 25% DVC Discount) or $610 ($457.50) plus any applicable taxes.

I just booked a 2 bdrm at SSR for late August and needed to pay cash for one night. At first MS tried the last night but that was unavailable for cash-pay, MS then tried the first night and that worked. With the discount, we are paying about $386 (can't remember exact $). This was significantly cheaper than buying points at $10 a point as it was a Friday night and we needed 65 points or, $650. So if you can, try to get MS to look at moving your cash pay date from last to first or, first to last, it worked for us.
