Help!

Driving down next week from Virginia and wanted to buy a portable dvd player for the car.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Penny

We purchased a Mintek brand with a 7" Screen from Costco back in May. We just love it. It came with the carrying bag, 2 sets of headphones, car adaptor and battery for around $220.00 It is a lifesaver on even small trips.

We have an audiovox 7in screen and it's beed a godsend for my 3 1/2 dd. It's rated #1 by consumer reports. The prices have come down tremendously on them, we paid 400, but now it selld for 200. I believe that sams club is now carrying the audiovox. It comes with a battery, car adapter, charger, tv connectors, remote. We've taken it with us to disney twice....great on the airplane, but it gets used regularly in the car. Good Luck

our portable dvd is from Radio SHak. CyberHome is the brand
name. It works great. Cost 199.99. THe travel bag they sell
was very expensive so we got one at walmar for 14.99. THe
player comes with car adapter, headphones, and battery charger.
I can't believe we ever traveled without one. It makes a huge
difference in keeping the kids QUIET !!!!!!!!!!

Most game systems like Xbox play DVDs and games and have screen and car adapters - yeah, it adds up but is something to think about.. the portable DVDS are down in price - down around the price of a PS2 or XBox.

Just about everyone with little kids I know have a VHS or DVD to go these days if its not build into the car - and I know some that have been frustrated about them breaking - I would consider looking at what Sears has to offer - they offer a 'replacement' warrenty - and they are nationwide. Some of the other places that offer warentees are 'ship them off for 8 weeks for repair'..

and if you check out sears online - remember ebates gives you 2% back.

One final thought.... I was driving one night and three cars were driving erratically - the center car was a minivan -- in the minivan - a movie was playing - my kids said it was nemo and it was funny that the other two cars seem to be watching nemo too... I was pretty turned off - how much concentration is lost when a great movie is playing??? So I got the 49$ screen that goes on the gamecube and it came with the car adapter - no DVD option - no temptation and both kids can play (18 and 10).

:) happy shopping.

We bought the Disney Portable DVD player from Sears! It comes with a carrying case, a sleeve for DVDs and 2 headsets!

What brand is the Disney DVD Player? Does it have a screen too?

It has a 5 inch screen! Actually it is made by Disney Electronics!
We just took it on our airplane trip to Puerto Rico...and it worked like a charm. In fact, as people were heading to the lavatory(on the Plane), everyone would stop to see what was playing on the DVD player!::yes:: We have also taken it on our drive to WDW from Jersey! I highly recommend it!

If you have a digital camera, I would suggest a laptop if you can spend a little more. You can play DVDs while traveling. Believe me it is worth it. My son just watches DVDs the whole time we are traveling.

Also, with a laptop you can download your digital pictures.

Just my $0.02.

my sisterr and i both just got them for christmas. u might want to buy it a couple days early so u can charge it and also make sure u have extra battery pack.
