Neck Lanyards

Okay - I have no idea where to post this but this is the forum I am most comfortable with and ya'll have been so kind so I thought maybe someone could help me.

I see pics from the Trip Reports and everyone has their neck lanyards. First of all - what do you put in those? I assume photo pass cards, tickets, stuff of that nature?

So I went to eBay and can get them there for what I think is a pretty decent price.

But I am confused as they don't have those bottom plastic thingys attached to them where you put the stuff in. Do you all know what I mean. Where do I get those?

Am I missing something? Trying to be as prepared as possible before we hit the road...

we bought them from the disney outlet store.
my husband put his pins for trading on them
the actual passes for disney..they are used for fast passes all day long.
a few dollars in case we got seperated and he needed a snack.
now its is hanging from the curtain rod. pins and all. and makes him smile.
hes active duty navy. e6.. hard butt LOL it reminds him of good times so i leave it hanging

if you want a plain one - one without Disney characters on it you can also try Staples or Office Max... they have them...I have photos of some in my PTR... I won the laynards during the YOMD contest and ordered the pins off of ebay....

My lanyard is like my purse when I'm there-we don't carry bags so we can zoom through the bag free lines.

I carry: Hand sanitizer (tiny one with a loop that attaches to lanyard), tickets (all of them), fast passes, license, credit card, room key.

I found the plastic holder that attaches at the bottom I think at walmart or target. I super-reinforced it and added backup attachments (I lose that and I lose everything-so I make sure it's not coming off).

Right now I have a Tinkerbelle lanyard that I just got at EPCOT. The one I had before was the original AMEX one they handed out over 10 years ago. I figured I was ready for an upgrade...

I usually will also wear 1 or 2 pins that I buy each trip-I don't trade them, I just get one to commemorate each trip. This one was Roger and Jessica Rabbit on a Valentine's day pin

Check Party City if you have one near by, I got a pack of 25 for $1. They are the same as the ones you pulled up on Ebay. Good luck.

You can buy the plastic "packet" for the bottom at the Disney stores or you can probably find one at an office supply store.

For lanyards, I just picked up 3 of them for $1 each (Disney princesses) at Michael's in the $1 section. I'd read a post about that here and checked our M's which didn't have them. Then when I was visiting my Dad out in Vegas last week I found them there. If yours doesn't have them check around. They are actually quite nice.

just be careful with the lanyards, we were given free ones when we checked in at Portofino Bay a couple of years ago. we kept our room cards only in them. DDs simply fell off her neck, broken, while walking, apparantly they weren't put together very well. They resembled the type you buy at Staples, cord with a hook at the end that clips to a plastic sleeve.

I already had a lanyard that I got from work but I need the plastic sleeves. I got mine at Walmart in the craft section. There was like 12 in pack for 2.49

I got one of mine at Home Depot they have several different ones here they keys are. Walmart has some in the jewelry dept w/ the key rings.

I got the clear packtes also at Walmart.

For he kids got the retractable ons that attach to your pants and put thier ID and emergency contact info in them.

I bought some Disney themed lanyards with attached holder for my kids off eBay a couple weeks ago. The prices were good and there is free shipping when you buy more than one (still pay shipping on the first). Look in her store as she has a very large selection to choose from.

Thanks I am going to check out those links....

We found that doing the EMH in the evening...you now have to show your room key before each ride/attraction...and I thought I NEED a LANYARD...because I had to keep pulling my key out of my pocket..and my kids would lose theirs so I hung onto the keys..

I thought it was a good way for Disney to make more money off it's guests....force you to buy a lanyard or lose the room keys.

We got ours at the Walmart in Orlando. I think it was about $3. It came with the little plastic 'pouch' but not the heavy duty one like the real WDW laynards come with. We like it just fine though.

DH actually got mad at me for getting this as he absolutely thought it was a ridiculous waste of $$. ($3 geesh!) But I laugh cause in some of the pictures he's the one wearing it!!
