I know this is a stretch but, does anyone know if they have a nebulizer @ the first aid stations. I would guess NO but, it was a thought. My daughter has asthma and takes breathing treatments daily with her nebulizer. I am hesitant to take it with us as I am afraid it will be damaged by the airline baggage handlers. I thought they might have them at the first aid stations. If not, does anyone have any other ideas??? Thanks for your help!!

When we were younger, my mom brought my sister's nebulizer as a carry on, and was allowed because it was medical equipment that my sister needed. Airline laws have changed since then, I'm sure, but I think you could carry it on and then you needn't worry about it getting broken.

Had you considered renting one while in WDW? I think there's a sticky that names some of the local companies. Karen

I've been wondering the same thing. When we went last year, I put the nebulizer on the packing list, and DH looked at it and said no way. DD doesn't have to use it daily; she just uses it when she's having problems. I still worried, though, that we would need it. I told DH he'd better not complain if we had to rent one. This time, we're going in Sept, prime time for DD6 to have problems. I've thought about seeing if ped. will give us a scrip for a rescue inhaler, but I'm not real sure if she's ready for it. Knowing I can borrow or rent a nebulizer inexpensively would make me feel a lot better.

My ds is a teen but we have been bringing his nebulizer machine with us as a carryon in his backpack. It has a storage for the liquid vials but now with the new regulations we pack most of it with the checked luggage (the meds) and just a little in the storage compartment. They have swabbed it, opened it etc. but never a problem. I too always wondered about bringing it into the park. He does bring the rescue inhaler. We dont go in the summer anymore because the humidity is too much for him, Once we did have to take him back to the room and hooked him up to the machine, glad we were at the mk and staying at the Poly.

You can and should carry it on the plane. NEVER put it in your checked luggage.

Thanks to all of you for all the wonderful tips. FYI - my DD is 4 and currently uses Pulmicort through an inhaler at least once per day.

I have found out that the First Aid Centers do not have inhalers but, you can check yours in with them for the day so you don't have to carry them around the park.

Turner Pharmacy rents nebulizers ($10/day or $40/week) and will deliver to your resort for $15 fee.

I have a call into our doctor to see about the inhaler option. That would be my preference since we could easily carry it with us all day. I am not sure exactly how she will do in the heat and humidity for extended periods of time. The climate here in Houston is similar but, we don't spend too much time away from the a/c if you know what I mean.

always take ours in carry on AS WELL AS A PRESCRIPTION FOR IT AND ALL THE MEDS so airport security will be satisfied if they have issues.

Ok I'm a respiratory therapist at the kids hospital here in town. If she is only Pulmocort you could neb her before you go to the park or when you get back to the hotel. Pulmocort dosn't care what time of the day it goes into the body , it just cares that you take it every day on a regular basis. The only Pulmocort inhaler is in the DPI version and a 4yo won't have the higher flow you need to use it correctly.
Now for the albuteral inhaler go for it. Just make sure you get a mask with your spacer, it will make it easier for her to get the dose and get most of it. Once again most 4yo have trouble with the timing part of using an inhaler but having her breath in and out of the spacer several times after you dispense it helps.
For me inhaler = MDI not nebulizer

Any other questions please ask.
