Neat things to do like waking Tink?

Our last trip in '05, DD was the Chef of the Day at ASMU. They had her decorate a large Mickey shaped waffle. Made a big announcement that she was chef of the day while several CMs stood and watched her decorate the waffle. Had balloons and a certificate for her. Really made for a special magical moment for her. :goodvibes

We were the first family to walk into "Character Connections" at Epcot to get signatures/pictures. They let us take a picture with all of teh characters and then gave us a "first family of the day" certificate.

For FotLK at AK, find a seat right behind the handicapped, but not directly behind, so you are sticking out the ends (like you would now be the first row).

Your children have a better chance to be picked to demonstrate the animal sounds for your section and for the show's finally.
FYI: It's not just kids! My DH, then 41, got picked to be the elephant :teeth: I think the CM did it precisely because DH was pretending to ignore what was going on.

Last trip our DS was one of the children selected to have his picture taken at the picture maker in Epcot. He looked so cute in his lab coat and glasses.
He also participated in the Belle story time as Papa.

Special moments for us all! :woohoo:

I never knew any of this stuff!

My friend just told me you can ride up front with the driver of the monrail - up to four people! They did that a few times on their last trip!

If you stand towards the front of the parade at AK, you may get asked to march in the parade, too. You get a nice certificate for "marching in a Disney Parade".

I'm hoping that just one of these magical moments happen for my kids!!!!

We were at Epcot last week and dd7 was asked to participate in the ladybug release at innoventions east. My daughter loves ladybugs and cats , she loved it. CM helps you catch ladybugs in a tank they have inside, then take them outside and release them into the shrubs. She got a certificate with her name and what she did. Loved it.

My oldest DD was chosen to introduce the Pocahontas and Her Forrest Friends show at AK. She announced her name, the state she was from, and then was aksed to bang a drum.

We have also awakened Tinkerbell and been co-pilots on the monorail.

We experienced this back in September 2002 - -

In the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe (I think that's what it's called) in Liberty Square my DD was the first child to visit the store one day. A CM came up and asked her if she wanted to decorate the store's Christmas tree. She was given a basket of ornaments and got to hang them on the tree. There was a framed sign on the tree that read something like "This tree decorated by ..." and they wrote my DD's name in it. It would stay there for the entire day (and another lucky child would get to decorate the tree the next day and so on). And, the really cool thing was DD got a cute Mickey Mouse head-shaped ornament for free and they even personalized it. I don't know if they still do this but it was really neat.

We got to wake up Tink in 2004. It helped that we had an 8:05am CRT ADR so we had a jump start on the crowds. I felt bad because right after the CM greeted us and asked DD if she was there to wake up Tink a woman and her 2 daughters came running into the store all out of breath. The daughters didn't seem too upset that they weren't the 1st ones there but the mom sure was! She asked "did you have breakfast in the castle?!?" ..... "we've been waiting at the front gate since 7am!" .... ugh, made me feel bad! We have an 8:05am CRT ADR this year too and DD asked if we were going to wake up Tink again. I told her no we are going to give another little girl a chance to do it since we already had a turn.

Thanks for the tip about the Christmas Shoppe! We'll have to try it next time -- it sounds sweet!

Also, for anyone who might be going during Christmas-time, Biergarten picks a child to turn the Christmas tree lights on during dinner and gives them a special coin, or something. DD enjoyed doing that, too.

I'm really enjoying hearing about all these special little tidbits that aren't written in the park brochures. Whenever anyone makes a comment to me about..."Haven't you run out of things to do there yet?"...I just smile a little smile as I go snickering away. :ssst: :tiptoe:

Debbie,

Just wanted to mention how thoughtful it is to not try and wake up Tink this time around. You're teaching your DD to put other people's feelings before her own. I think that's something that should be applauded!
