Neat stuff to do in World Showcase

On our trip this summer, I am thinking of taking a day by myself to enjoy some of the stuff my family doesn't want to do. For one, I want to see Beauty and the Beast show at DHS. I also want to tour the World Showcase. What are some neat things to check out?

The key to World Showcase is similar to the key to the Animal Kingdom - Slow down and relax! There are two rides, three films, and... uh... whatever you want to call The American Adventure. These are all okay, but the real attraction for me to WS is strolling through every "land", enjoying the music, the architecture, the unique snacks, and those gorgeous gardens. The live performers scheduled throughout the day are very nice as well. And, of course, at night there is Illuminations, which for my money is the best night-time show in the park. Best viewing area is right near the Rose and Crown.

Have a great trip!

...but seriously.

American Adventure is a must-see, and the pre-show is cool, too.

Kim Possible adventures. I don't care how old you are.

The movies in China, France, and Canada.

The boat rides in Norway and Mexico.

No more Chinese acrobats, or so I've heard. Booooo!

Shop. I'm not a shopper, but love to shop in WS!

Candy Lady in Japan. The drum show, too.

There is SOOOO much to do in WS that I think a lot of people miss. The food, drinks, and random entertainment are great as well.

Above all, I just love being in World Showcase. It makes me happy :)

Most has been posted already.
But I love the unique food you can try in each country.
You will love seeing the variety of entertainment in each country, esp if you like beauty and the beast.
I know it is mainly for kids, but you can buy a passport, then you can get it stamped at every country and they will write a special message in thier language. Kidda fun.
Most of all just take your time at each country and enjoy the scenery. Disney knows how to do it right.
Have a great time.

We love seeing the British Invasion in England. They are a Beatles tribute, and usually have i think 4 shows a day. The first show the dress in the early Beatles costumes and play the early music. Each show progresses in the years and costumes. The last show usually ends after the sun has gone down and is the best show!!

Enjoy!

I second the British Invasion! I didn't know they did different shows, we always end up at the same show time. I am going to have to check that out!

DH and I went on our own and really enjoyed getting drinks (Germany has an awesome alcoholic cherry lemonaide at the outside beer stand-SOO YUMMY!) and taking them to one of the cafe tables in Italy and just sit and people watch. We really felt like we were in Italy!

Have a great time!

I plan to try some candy in each country this time around. Maybe a beer or two somewhere.

A few years ago on my "alone" day I explored the Boardwalk area and had the best time. We had our first stay at BWV last August and I didn't have to "waste time" learning the "lay of the land". I also did the Behind the Seeds tour, alone, and really enjoyed that. Very interesting 1 1/2! :thumbsup2 While we all love our families; it's extra special to "get away from them" be it a day or only a few hours. Helps keep us all sane! :lmao: :tink:

The Taiko Drummers in Japan are fantastic, as are the Fife and Drums at The American pavilion or the Voices of Liberty...wonderful performers

Some of my favorites include walking in the gardens in the UK and China. Seeing Miyuki (the candy lady) in Japan, browsing the toy shop (Das Teddy Bear) in Germany, stopping to watch the mini-trains in Germany, and catching Off Kilter in Canada.

Definitely check out the Caramel Shop in Germany. So many treats...mmmm!!

Then there is Pick a Pearl in Japan. Even if you don't want to get one, watching others get theirs is interesting for a bit.

And I agree...tasting the alcohol drinks thru the lands.

Before my last trip, I picked up the book "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" and there were some really interesting tidbits about the WS countries and my sister and I really enjoyed finding some of them. One example is a copper bowl in one of the China shops that has perfect resonance and if you wet your fingers in the water (in the bowl) and rub them around the rim, you can get it to "sing" and the water to splash. There are also some fascinating stories behind the artword in the American Adventure foyer and we found the one that "moves" as you change perspective along it. We also found the talking Coke cooler in the Outpost. We really enjoyed these little bits of Magic in unexpected places! Highly recommend picking up the book!

Another :thumbsup2 for Voices of Liberty. An accapella group of 8 I think, incredible harmonies....it's inside the American pavilion where the acoustics are amazing. Check a show schedule, it's at set times. Guaranteed chills and probably a misty eye.

We enjoy eating our way around the world, next year when DD is 21 she wants us to drink our way around the world. This way you get to the country, have a snack and look around enjoying the shopping and entertainment. This way your not in a hurry cause you know when you get to the next country you have to eat again, which may not be true at first but it is by the end of the day! Yum!

Thanks for the examples in the book. I liked reading that so much that I just phoned the library and asked for an inter-library loan of the book. Can't wait until it arrives!

There are actually 4 films in the WS...the film in Norway seems to get overlooked consistently. It may not be the most popular, but it's there. :)
It's short, I think sweet and worth doing once.

There is a Henna Tattoo artist in Morocco, they are relatively reasonable and there is a huge book of patterns to choose from. They are really pretty and each pattern symbolic.

We love to look at the jewelry in each country too!

Once is right! I finally decided to watch it on my solo trip last year. Man, they need to update that thing!
