The wife and I have decided on the spur of the moment to make a trip to WDW. planning is to head down ~ 2 April and spend 4-5 days. Our typical stay is Wilderness Lodge, but we want to mix it up this time. We have no particular budget but I am notoriously cheap. We've been Disboard lovers for a long time. Even did a big meet and greet several years ago that was a blast. So my questions to the experts are......

1. Resort choices? What would be a good change of pace from Wilderness Lodge?

2. Any timing changes we should consider?

3. What do we need to see considering its been 5 years since we been to WDW?

4. Any thing else that will help?

This board is awesome and I am hoping you can help make this another trip to remember.

I would try Animal Kingdom or Boardwalk. There is so much to see at AKV and BWV puts you in walking distance to DHS and EPCOT. The boardwalk is fun too.

2. Any timing changes we should consider?

I don't think so, that is more than a week before Easter so you should miss the spring break crowds.

3. What do we need to see considering its been 5 years since we been to WDW?

New fantasyland at MK. Eating at Be Our Guest. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Ride. Some new interactive Queues at Haunted Mansion and Pooh. There is a Pirate treasure hunt in Adventureland

Star Tours is Redone at DHS. There is also a new Jack Sparrow Show where the Narnia stuff was. I don't remember the timing of Toy Story Mania...was that in 5 years ago?

4. Any thing else that will help?

Read up on FP+ There is no longer Paper FP at MK at AK. More to follow. Also read up on Magic Bands. Make sure you get the phone APP and sign up for My Disney Experience. App allows you to check show times and wait times on the fly.

It sure is....and I hope you will...

Thanks! I have entered manic planning mode. Your info will help greatly. We'll choose a hotel tonight.

Besides the great advice from the PP I would also suggest the new Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom.

Also read up on the new changes to the mugs that you get at the resorts. As for the hotel, I noticed that you said something about being "reasonable." I would suggest the new Art of Animation. Great hotel and totally a change of pace.

Have an awesome time you guys.

BTW, is amazing how many changes have happened since your last trip last 5 years ago, eh? :rotfl2:

These are great suggestions! However, like you said, if you're looking to budget a little, maybe try Coronado Springs. It's a gorgeous resort with dedicated buses. They have fantastic queen beds and an awesome pool!! :thumbsup2

Just sayin'.

I found my old logon !! All previous trips are in the signature. The great family vacation included the "Great Focker Meet and Greet".

BTW...It'll be just mama and I again this time. She is leaning towards the Poly or Grand Floridian. My wallet is running away down the street. More details when we make some decisions tonight.

Ooooooo.....this is exciting! I can't wait to hear your choices!

Seriously...

I'm such a Disney fanatic that I get all excited living vicariously through someone else planning a spur of the moment trip! :woohoo:

We have it narrowed down to 5 nights at the Polynesian or Port Orleans. Two dramatically different choices, so we'll sleep on it for a day. We honeymooned at the Poly 32 years ago. Might be fun to go back there. Port Orleans though looks nice.

I'll let you know when we book it.

Thanks for all your help.

I think there is construction ongoing at Poly.

Well after considering everything, we are staying at WL. Flying in late April 2, and staying at All Star Sports for the night. We move to WL the next morning and get to the park early. We thought long about staying at Poly but the construction and monorail closures swayed us back to the peaceful refuge that is WL.

See you at WDW on April 2 !!!!!!

I agree, the Poly may be a little unsettled but congrats on the trip plans! Sounds like you will have a great time! :goodvibes And Hi neighbor! I'm right in Souderton!

Sports will get your luggage to WL for you so you can head straight to the park instead of going to WL first.
