Hi all, I've lived in CT practically my whole life. DH is currently searching for a new job. He has a phone interview for a job in Fayetteville, NC this week. I know I'm jumping the gun a bit here, but anyone have anything to say about that area? Good, bad? I looked at housing and it looks like we could practically live in a mansion for what we could sell our house here for---more likely we'd buy something nicer, with good schools, pay off all debt and go to WDW more, since we could DRIVE there!
Anything would be helpful, maybe help me be less stressed! I'm all for going somewhere else, where DH would be happy at his job, but since I've lived here all my life change is stressing me out!
Thanks!!!

ok, this is just MHO and I'm sure there are nice areas somewhere near Fayetteville, but I think Fayetteville itself is pretty bad. Now I was only there a few months, compliments of TDY with the military, and wasn't able to really check out the surrounding areas, so I'm only talking about Fayetteville itself. The areas near the base were pretty bad. I know several people stationed there now and they won't travel in the area at night without being armed. Like I said, I only saw the areas right close to the base and I'm sure there are those who are much more familiar with the area who will be able to name some nicer, family friendly areas.

I agree with everything stm61 said, and I'm not at all surprised housing is cheap.

North Carolina in general is very nice, but Fayette-nam is not. I agree with the other two posters.

I didn't think MrsPete was old enough to call it Fayette-Nam!

Thanks for the replies, keep 'em coming! We don't have to live IN Fayetteville, we can live in the surrounding area, I'm sure somewhere is ok! I looked up schools, and there are plenty in the Cumb. County system that have excellent ratings/test scores etc.
DH is from Detroit, the scary part, but there are plenty of nicer areas around Detroit but that are nice with good schools, and you can avoid going into Detroit itself if you want.
Thanks again!
