NBC Overlay Lovers !

I will definitely let you know if I see anything hard to find or out of the ordinary when I am there next week so you can snap it. The obvious things I don't need to point out - obviously you will see the giant Mickey Pumpkin and all the other pumpkins around. Can't miss those.

I just saw on TMZ that Lindsay Lohan and her girlfriend Samantha were in DLR just yesterday! They posted a photo of it! Now, there have been other threads about celebs at DLR, and I have said that I never see them. I saw a local Calif. weatherman and I saw the actor Paul Sorvino (Mira's dad). That is IT. All the good ones don't go when I go, darn it! Why couldn't Lindsay and Samantha (who purchased and wore a Jack Skellington Mickey Ears hat!) have been there NEXT week when I am there? I swear, all these big stars like the Beckhams and Christian Bale and Courtney Cox go to DLR and I never see a single one of them, and they are out wandering around, plain as day. I have a male friend who LOVES Lindsay, so I know I would have been on the phone with him, calling him from DLR, to report what she was doing (from afar - I never approach or follow anyone)!

Anyway, Wazowskilover, I like Star Tours because of the ride itself - not necessarily because of the Star Wars theme. I just like the motion simulator idea - it is like Soarin' Over California, but on LSD!! But the friends who used to ride it now admit that they get motion sick on it, so I either have to go alone or not at all! And when I saw the sort of disinterested look on my friend's face about going on Buzz Lightyear, I didn't care. I marched her over to the line and we rode it. I provided the Park Hoppers and the GCH hotel stay and even paid for one of the meals, so I decided to pull rank!! Yep, that's how I roll!;) I may miss out on Alice and Peter Pan and Dumbo, but WE are both riding Buzz!

Oh good, a thread of people who like it! Too many haters out there. ;)

I just love the whole ride really, it's just a work of art to me. The snow in graveyard scene is so pretty. I also like seeing Jack's big face in the stretching room better then seeing someone hanging there! Very cool ride.

Yes, I think if they only did a half-hearted job on the decorations and just stuck up a few little NBC touches here and there, it wouldn't be as cool. But the fact that Disney really goes all out for it and re-does the entire thing, form start to finish, is what is so cool for me. They really commit to the change. They transform the whole ride inside and out. Now, I also love the holiday overlay for IASM, and they do quite a bit with it as far as changing the songs to holiday tunes, iunfusing the scent of peppermint and overlaying the decorations and what not. And the exterior of the IASWH building at night is absolutely stunning to behold. The lights are so fantastic. But somehow, when I ride IASWH, I KNOW that underneath all the holiday motif, it is still the same children singing and the same ride overall. The HMH with the NBC theme is TOTALLY different, and there are very few touches of the original HM left to be seen.

Oh, Wazowski - as for the Hidden Mickey...when you are riding through the banquet scene, look over to the far right, against the back wall. There is a window or a door of some kind, and there is what appears to be a snow drift on the floor in front of the window/door - in a very famous Mouse shape! Again, to me, it looks like a big Mickey fluffy bath rug! But it is nice that they put it in there. I am sure there will be more Hidden Mickeys this year!

Oh man, I love EVERYthing about it!!!! Love the stretching room, love the pictures in the "gallery" as you walk to the Doom Buggies, especially the Sally picture!! Love the flipping sign thing as you board, love the spider above your head, love the floating Zero......etc etc etc. I love the Christmas list, I have so much fun trying to read that thing! LOL I just love the overlay!! :)

if you are an overlay fan definately get the latest NBC release on DVD/BluRay!!! There is an awesome behind the scenes on the ride!

Jasmine! I totally agree with you! I love love love NBC :lovestruc (I used to be afraid of it when I was kid, ) and pretty much anything Tim Burton. I love the layover, I think it fits *more* for Christmas than Halloween, but since the movie is with the clashing of BOTH holidays, it makes sense it's out during Halloween time. I love the original HM too, but I'm glad it's a bit different for a couple months...

And rumor has it that THIS year Jack and Sally will be out for meet and greets in front of HMH!! I swear!!!!!!

Yeah!! I read it on another Disney message board, but they said it was in the CM newsletter! And I don't have access to a CM newsletter. Albort??? But I have seen pictures from Disneyland Tokyo on the Dis...!! I'm sure it will be the same costumes??

Oh wow!!! You're so my go to gal for your next trip! LOL :) You're so lucky!!!!!!! :)

AAAHHH!!!!!! :woohoo:  :jumping1: :dancer:

Okay...for that I would be star struck!!! You know what DH and I have been waiting for? The way they do those pictures where they morph your face onto a characters body? (We have done Shrek and Fiona, and DS's have done Anikin and Obi) We are just waiting to get to take one as Jack and Sally!

That might take place of our wedding photo...:rotfl:

This is our FIRST YEAR seeing it!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a little sad to not get to see the regular HM, but I'm WAY excited to see the NBC overlay. It'll be so much fun to see how much DH loves it (as he LOVES the movie) and I saw a ridethrough on youtube and it looks like it's really cute and well done (hello, Disney, what isn't)

I think it might be odd for me to see halloweeny stuff in December, but I'll get over it ;) Seeing it through DH's eyes will be like seeing Disneyland through my kids' eyes for the first time.

YAY!

To be honest, the regular HM creeps me out with the bride cutting off her husbands head. I think I liked the older version which was just kind of scary instead of having those visions in there. (I was just at the HM in WDW and I am assuming that the one out here has the same new theme with the murderous bride, its been awhile since Ive been on this one).

SO that said I LOVE the NBC overlay because it cheers the place up! ;)

Yay !! Sherry :)

I agree with you on all of this. It IS something new to see other than the original HM. I feel like it is a special treat because normally with DLR rides, once you've been on it, thats it. For the NBC overlay, it becomes an added attraction to the park. I also didn't even notice the hidden mickey snow trail. I will definitely look out for it for sure :)

I agree about the color. In watching the movie (and the special features;)), they deliberately kept Halloweentown looking drab and staying to minimal specific colors. Once Jack went to Christmas Town, all of this color got introduced. I believe that they achieved that with the overlay. The whole ride is about Jack's excitement about Christmas and incorporating Halloween into it. The colors on the ride are fantastic. I completely geek out almost every time I'm on it !!

YES!! The color shift is so exciting to me too. It has that whole kid-in-a-candy-store feel. Love it!! I am a big HM fan anyway- but I am passionate about the overlay. My kids LOVE it. And it's my mom's very favorite ride at DLR! We're all going to the MTOTP, so we'll hit DL first so we can ride NBC before having some dinner and heading to the party. Woohooo!!!!

YESSS. I completely agree ! It is totally kid-in-a-candy-store feeling !!! Isn't it great to do both MTOTP and see the overlay (not to mention the parks with all the decor!) !! AMAZING !!

I LOOOVE getting on the elevator and hearing Jack's "Christmas story". It's so spooky and definitely gets me in the mood for the ride :yay:

FO SHO. I'm gonna have to agree with you. It totally gets me pumped.

I think that once I move into my own place with my fiancee, we are going to dedicate a study room or office for disney stuff. I know he wants to get a lot of the traditional old school sculptures of Walt's original design of Mickey. I can't wait for that !! I think that ebay is the way to go for this kind of stuff. Its so hard to pay full price because they pump up the prices so high. Sometimes though I find pretty good deals at the Disney Store when they are trying to get rid of old inventory to replace with newer stuff !!

haha thats what i need...an office/room for all my disney stuff!!! psh, with the way rent is these days, i doubt that'll happen any time soon:( my living room looks like the disney store hahahaha
