NBC celebrates Black History month....

I don't see what the fuss is about. Certain ethinic groups like certain foods. Are they not allowed to serve burritos on Cinco de mayo? If colored folks like that food I don't see the big deal.

:tiptoe:

 It was a honest question, I am reading the thread and it missed me that there was something to be offended about.

There is nothing to be offended about. The smiley was not meant for you, sorry you thought so. Can we be friends? :cloud9:

I know that you were wrong, but I didn't see what people were supposed to even be offended about?

I don't think she was wrong. If her life experience is similar to mine [I live in the NE], many African Americans have and still do become offended when fried chicken etc etc is attributed to them as their specific cuisine. Those foods have been used in many a racist joke, and some people are still sensitive, as the jokes are still out there. Hope this explains it for you.

I don't personally eat that food, but most Southerners do. It's more of a regional thing than a Black thing.

Never even HEARD of Jalapeno cornbread! :confused3

It's gross. They serve it in our school cafeteria when they have chili. At least the kind they serve is gross.

I don't think school cafeteria food can ever be confused with real food. ;)

Actually a lot is much, much better than it used to be, at least in our school. The meatloaf, chili, "fried" (baked) chicken, and taco salads are especially good. We have a great cafeteria manager who has made our lunches much healthier.

But, yeah, burgers and pizza still stink.

And yet the African Americans who were there that day were not offended. Amazing.

And she was wrong, she even posted that she was :P

No, I don't think personal life experience is amazing...it just is. All African Americans don't feel the same way. To think that they all do, well that's amazing.

Just wondering, why was the sign taken down?

Ask the cafeteria or Katherine. Would you like a coconut? :lovestruc
